No he isn't. He is definitely the rookie of the year and I predict that he will be a superstar by the end of his second year. Westbrook-lite athleticism mixed with the BBIQ of Jason Kidd.
You're definitely not watching many Memphis games. MAYBE you could make an argument that Doncic had a comparable year last year (even though Doncic was quite inefficient - only 42% from the field and 32% from three, and only 71% from the FT line as a guard, AND 3.4 TOs to 6.0 ASTs). But Morant is clearly better than rookie Trae was.
Nope. Trae Young, from December onwards, averaged something like 25/9/3 on good TS while playing on the HAWKS. His garbage stats in November and October really set him back in the ROY race. He finished second overall in total assists behind Westbrook.
Whatever Trae gives you on offense he takes away on the other end. Morant and Luka are actual impact players who are leading their teams to the playoffs. Trae is putting up stats on a bottom feeder. Yay.
This young kid is only at his 20, he got talent, got luv, most important of all, got responsibility Its long for harden to settle down
To further my point @andersongo you won't see Morant getting embarrassed and completely dismantled on the defensive end like this:
Morant, like every rookie PG, is a notoriously bad defender. Got benched for defense in crunch in a recent games. Also, different situations. Memphis is being led by solid veterans like Vucevic & Crowder as much as Morant. Trae Young is the leader of a bunch of rookies. Their current starting line-up is made up entirely of rookies and sophomores because their vets are pure trash. Watch more games and spend less time on r/nba.
