Westbrook is such a disruptive force to both our team and opponents. His gravity as a player has had a negative effect on some - Capela, EG, Harden, and is the primary reason this team is struggling, particularly on Defense.

So often he leaves his assignment wide open for that corner 3 to chase a rebound and start a fast break.

The team has got to find a way to fit the strengths of his game - Hustle, speed, rebounding - and minimize his weaknesses, shooting, defensive awareness.

Right now this is a good old fashing, "Whose team is it" situation - and until that resolves we are going to struggle.

I don't envy the coach in trying to sort this out......two titanic egos in play.

He’s actually been playing well. The problem is that with how dominant undisciplined hardens style is we need a cp3 sorta guy to complement him. Even bev was good because of that. WB is too skiliar

    No.

Westbrook and CC have been murdering us so far.

-9.0 net rating with RW on the floor
-10.1 net rating with CC on the floor

Worst 2 on the team for players getting significant minutes.

Currently Houston is a -1.5 net rating with Harden on the floor. Not good, but any minutes with Westbrook and/or CC on the floor we are hemorrhaging points.

If that’s how you want to see the fact that up to this point CC and Westbrook have been the most problematic players, BY FAR, so be it.

How much of Westbrook’s poor rating is from the Miami game? He was a disastrous -46 in that game. I’m interested in his net rating with that 1 game filtered out.

not sure how anyone can’t see that Russ has put his ego to the side...sh*t, he did that last season with Paul George

any talk of his ego needs to stop, it’s not even a problem

he’s clearly accepted that he’s 2nd in command behind Harden...he just can’t shoot

I think we should try starting with the tuckwagon Linueup and bring in capella when Russ goes to the benchmark .... It's worth a shot. If we can close with that lineup, we can start with it too

No doubt that game did a number on everyone’s net rating, and his probably the worst. He is slightly positive at 0.6 outside of the Brooklyn game.

Not sure how anyone could watch the game against Memphis and have this opinion.

Not sure what you mean? I thought Memphis was the best TEAM game we have played.

The ball moved around better, the defense was significantly better.....and we won - and held them to only 100 points.

Biggest difference against a Memphis was Harden finally hit some outside shots and they played with more energy.

They were still bad defensively and other than Harden no one on offense could create anything consistently.

This team looked the same way at times last year when cp3 was here. Looked the same way when Bev was here at times.

There’s been three different kinds of guards who have shared the backcourt with Harden and each time people looked at each of their weaknesses and blamed whatever shortcomings the team was having on that player.

Bev couldn’t be a secondary playmaker, Cp3 could no longer beat anyone, Westbrook can’t shoot and plays no defense. Thing is each of those guys did/do have some positive attributes that contrast well with Harden.

Westbrook has his deficiencies but I don’t see how anyone can try to pin this teams lack of success on his mere presence when there are so many other key areas where this team is lacking.

Did you mean Brooklyn - or Miami? You were replying to a question regarding backing out the Miami game...

Exactly. Eye test showed RW was very important in terms of winning games early in the season... so I imagine without Miami it’s not bad.

    This is like Republican/Democrat status.

DD and others who despise Westbrook have too much skin in the game, and will never stop knocking Westbrook no matter how he plays. The bias is irreversible.

Akin to Holic and Capela, etc.

Westbrook isn't going anywhere and with an addition or two of the right type of player, I think the Rockets can win big with Westbrook and Harden.

However I am not very optimistic that Capela and Westbrook will co-exist on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball.

Having Westbrook and Capela on the court together absolutely destroys spacing.

yup. The second the rockets acquired westbrook having him and capela around harden should of immediately been known it wasn't going to work. only 1 non shooter is ideal around harden on the floor. We know wb isn't going anymore, so unfortunately for capela, he is a bit of the odd ball out now. it's a domino effect with wb and his deficiencies. So in order to make the team better, they have to adjust to this. right now this mix isn't it

What would those additions look like? In a perfect world what players would go out and what players would come in for us to win big with MDA/Harden/Westbrook?

Harden is more comfortable when he has the ball ALL THE TIME - Westbrook takes that away, it is a factor in Harden's poor start.

Yes, which is better than they have looked with Westbrook.

They are all different FIT - Bev fit perfectly with Harden, the best we have had next to him, IMO.

CP3 Fit because he can play off the ball and shoot well - so he worked fine too

Westbrook - doesn't fit at all with Harden, he needs the ball just as much as Harden does to be effective and he is much less effective than Harden overall. Mostly because Westbrook is a terrible jump shooter.
