Mooch was trying to become another SF. Trying to overrun his defender and overlook the open guys

You can't play team basketball when SF/CM are the only guys willing to be aggressive. We have a bunch of meek forwards with the exception of Eddie and our scoring center isn't broken in yet. It will have to the the SF/CM show for a while until we can get some front court players demanding the ball down low or running the wings better. Don't blame our troubles on the only guys who are trying.

Maybe you should go to the chat section so that sweeping gneralizations can be made and forgotten before they lose relevance after the best rockets offensive performance so far.

That wasn't Rice's fault. He came in for Cato. We went small, and Eddie had to guard Dampier. Eddie is too thin to guard Dampier, and he went wild. That's why the Warriors came back.

The Best I can muster is that its showing signs but still has a long way to go. We won over Golden State, at least its a 'W' for us! Same old questions about Rice,Moochie,Nachbar and Yao Ming. Hope Rudy T can work it all out!

Rice is slowly showing improvement. I thought that his defense tonight was pretty good. He had 2 agressive drives in the lane, and a nice jumper at the end of the third. He just seems to move much easier and looks more interested in playing. Things are starting to look up in Rocketland...

    Steve 19 shots with a FG% of 58%
    Cat 19 and 47%
    Kenny 14 and 57%
    Eddie 13 and 38%
    Cato 9 and 33%

We had 20 assists as a team and only committed 9 turnovers. All of our starters finished with double digit scoring except Cato and he had 9pts. The Rockets had 24 fast break points and 42 points in the paint and finished the game with 111 points. This is really the wrong night to complain about anything that has to do with the offense.

Our defense was way under par. We could have been way ahead of the Warriors. But the defense was really medicore. Can someone give some insights?

Well they woke up in the 2nd half and had like 20 team assists so no need to panic. They have to move the ball earlier in the game, but they looked pretty good offensively late in the 2nd quarter and then the 2nd half.

The Houston guards were giving the G.S. guards lots of cushion and Arenas and Richardson were knocking down the long range shots all night.

G.S. only scored 26 points in the paint and only had 4 fast break points so our defense was not as bad as it might have seemed. I would like to see Francis and Cat get up in the face of the shooter a little more even if the guy is 20 feet away from the basket.

Lets face it, with the exception of Hawkins and maybe KT, the rockets are not good on the ball defenders. So they have choose what they want to give up. With Golden State, they chose to give the jump shot and the warriors made alot of them. However, I would rather have them take jumpers than layups. It was a bad strategy with Seattle but a great strategy with GS.
