It's quite possible that both Paul and Harden will average double digit assists next year.

I think MDA is probably the happiest dude of all right now. He has the two best distributors in the game now and there's a good chance Houston will lead the league in assists next year, but is it possible for both Harden and Paul to average more than 10 assists a game?? Has any backcourt in NBA history ever accomplished that???

No way in hell. They didn't even do it on separate teams.

Is it possible for both of them to have triple doubles on the same night?

I think you will see Harden's overall scoring efficiency spike with the less responsibility of being the primary playmaker and less minutes played. I think Harden can be even more devestating offensive player all the while averaging less assists but being more efficient.Less turnovers and more efficient shooting from the floor

Maybe. I would bet that both are >8.5 APG. Imagine how many more Harden would have had if Anderson shot his avg % at home? Now give those shots to CP3, Gordon, and Melo (#imminent), and a rested Ariza. I can see it.

It's fair to think of it this way:
Rox averaged about 24 and a half assists last year, and that was near the top of the league. (Warriors got to about 30 a game, which is really high compared to league history.)

Say having Paul making extra and excellent passes, with fewer isolation plays, makes for 27 assists per game. If the rest of the roster really just ends up cutting, rolling, and spotting up, without swinging the ball much, it's just barely possible that Harden and Paul could average 10 each. But the rest of the team would basically be end points, averaging very very low assist numbers per teammate. Gordon and Ariza, for example, together averaged about 5. So they'd have to average probably even fewer to accomplish this insane goal.

Last year the Warriors averaged more assists per game than any team in decades, and they were still only at 30 a night. I'd be beyond stunned if we had two guys averaging 20+ between them.

One of them will probably only get 8.5 assists and lose the MVP because of it. Even though they will be on the far superior team than the MVP.

Not unless the Rockets get additional scoring in the front court. Harden and Paul are the team's best scorers.

Haha. Yep, even if one is at 10 and the other 9.7, it's not a double double....so who cares.

It's ironic @Tha_Dude was one of the most vocal posters regarding the media hype surrounding the magical number 10 in the MVP race, yet now asks if we can have two PGs reach the #10 this year. Haha. :p

Of course, I'd be really excited to see them do it, too.

Not with Ryno shooting 28% from beyond the arc.
