I caught a lot of $hit on the Capela thread for calling him out on his greediness when Isaiah Thomas had performed better than he had and had quickly fallen from Grace. Capela better think fast before his 4 or 5 year big money guarantee lottery winning offer to turns into QO followed by mid level to minimum level money.

Capela pull your head out of your ass for 1 sec and remember that 4/60 mil or 5/85 million is more money than 50+ of us on clutchfans will see over 10 years combined. Don't be a r****d!

the minimum? the minimum? the guy couldn't scrape up 4 or 5 million? i mean is the league now pretending that all guards play super good defense or something? jamal crawford stopped making shots like 2 or 3 years ago and sucks at defense but he kept getting paid. i know the injury concerns are there, but just like defense, injury concerns are there for other people, too, and someone somewhere takes a chance on buying low. chandler parsons stopped playing defense and was injured and memphis threw him a max when he peaked out at "hey, do you think this guy could be an all-star one day?" instead of "hey, this guy's an mvp candidate."

not one team was willing to buy low at higher than the absolute minimum? with all the stupid gm's there are? even just a crappy team that might hope they sell a couple of extra tickets? this seems like a fairly unique level of lack of interest for a guy who was recently really good. even if no one wanted him long term before he proved himself, you would think a one year offer was out there for more than james ennis money. maybe this was just a team offering a bigger role for a tryout, but what does IT think is going to change next year other than teams having cap room? he'll just be older and people will still think he can't play any defense. boogie, noel, IT. pay attention clint. you could be accepting previously insulting offers in less than 12 months literally on the order of 1/10 what you thought you would get.

maybe danny ainge is actually an idiot. he's about to have to pay kyrie irving like $35M when he could have had a poor defense, all offense, 4th quarter clutch point guard for the minimum.

Hell, at least it's not GS for min

Don't see what IT brings that they don't already have better version in Jamal Murray
Both better suited as 6th man backup combo G

They need solid vet starting PG to pressure the ball and take playmaking burden off Jokic
George Hill or Mike Conley would be perfect

Still, not a bad 8-man PO rotation (if they can finally get there w some DEF):

    Jokic Plumlee
    Millsap
    Porter Lyles
    Harris
    Murray IT

A soft team adds another soft player. The fit is so perfect.

You didn't include Will Barton in your playoff rotation that they just paid good money to keep.

I don't get how IT gets significant playing time in Denver (assuming health) down the stretch. He'll need to be back to crazy MVP darkhorse form.

Another sad twist in the Isaiah Thomas saga

Isaiah Thomas has been back in action for a month, trying to re-center his derailed career in Denver as a super-sub for the upstart Nuggets. But that effort may already be over, and not due to injury. Thomas didn’t play in Denver’s Tuesday win over the Timberwolves, and coach Michael Malone indicated after the game that he’s trying to settle in on an eight-player rotation. It would appear that I.T. is out of it.

Thomas has struggled in the month back, which is not a surprise for a scorer who has essentially spent the better part of two years either injured or in temporary exile in Cleveland, LA, and now Denver. Last year he had to find a way to co-exist with LeBron James after coming back from injury midseason. He got traded a month later and had to find his rhythm on a really young Lakers team that had no intent of keeping him around. Now he’s been inserted into a team having a dream season with a deep roster and plenty of shot creators from Nikola Jokic to Jamal Murray to Will Barton.

There’s a universe in which Monte Morris doesn’t turn into one of the best back-up point guards in the entire league and I.T. gets a chance to take his job. That didn’t happen here. There’s a universe in which Barton or Gary Harris miss time to injury now when I.T. is available instead of back when Thomas was also on the shelf. Hell, there’s still a possibility that I.T. will be called upon in March, April, or May if another Nugget gets banged up.

But this hasn’t worked out just like the last stop and the stop before it haven’t worked out for Thomas. He’s destined for another tough free agent market since he can’t seem to prove he really is still a two-time all-star and All-NBA guard. It’s a huge bummer for all of us who loved watching Thomas at his peak and want to see him rewarded for all he gave the Celtics. But of course it’s a bigger bummer for Isaiah, who just wants to play. That appears to be too much to ask now.

His career is pretty much over. He's a huge defensive liability when he's on the court. Even if he is 100% and can conjure that King of the Fourth performance again, a team has to pretty much build a team around him in order to maximize his offensive game and minimize his defensive deficiency.

his career was in such a great space in boston at one point. from "bringing up the brinks trucks" to settling for multiple minimums to extend his career

What sucks is that Isiah Thomas was playing so good on the Celtics but after that trade he hasn't been the same
