I see this very pretty young lady in my building downtown all the time. I finally see her get out of her car one day, she parks on the same level in the parking garage. So by the school stickers on her car, and a very prominent school at that, I figure she works for the prominent law firm in the building.

So I go to look her up, going through all the female names on the roster, their pictures are attached on the web site, and I find her and her bio. I'm never going to approach this woman, well I wouldn't say never, but is that wrong just to look her up?

I'd rather not get into that, not in a position right now let's just say. If I were 25, wouldn't be a problem.

Oh you married? Oh well. No harm in admiring from afar.

I don't think you can ever be busted for something that only goes on inside your own head.

i'm almost thinking its more stalkerish if you never intend on approaching her.

I mean, if you plan on meeting her, then you are just doing due diligence....if you never intend on approaching her, then it's a small step to creepy.

I don't think it's stalking for you to look up something you were curious about.

Could be different if you looked up personal stuff about her. If you used her name you found on that website and found her facebook or something, that's probably pushing it into the stalker territory.

I don't think it is stalking behavior unless you go even farther with it. Looking her up on social networking sites, in the phone book, etc.

thats what i was thinking....if i saw someone that really stuck out to me and i was just floored by, really interested in talking to her, then i'd want to know how to find her incase i didnt run into her again. On the other hand if you keep checking her out and looking out for her every time and look up her info and never intended to speak to her, then yeah it's stalker-ish.

To me, this is not stalker...yet. Bumper stickers and online profiles are, by their very nature, meant to be viewed by the public. All you did was put two and two together. Now, if you were to take it any further than this without introducing yourself and getting to know her better, then you cross the line into stalkerism.

Its stalking when you become obsessed, regardless of how little or much info you look up. Simply "accidentally" pulling up next to her parking space at the same time she comes into work everyday or pulling up her profile everyday is a form of stalking. Taking a few minutes to google or facebook her out of curiosity is not a big deal, as long as you leave it at that.

Eh. These things are subjective really. What's good for the goose is good for the gander they say.
