Pretty scary that our rookie that has only being in the rotation 2 games is by far our best low post defender, with chuck hayes out with injury.

He is miles ahead of everyone in defensive rebounding.
Quicker with rotations than Scola and Miller.

Plays with a brain unlike Hill who just gets lost everytime rotations need to be made.

Chuck Hayes and Jared Jeffries are, but PPat has the ability to be a better overall player than both.

JJ is good other than rebounding, he is a terrible rebounder.

Patpat definitely has his basketball fundamentals down.

    Very promising player.

With Chuck Hayes out the low post defensive order is...

    1. Jared Jefferies
    2. Patrick Patterson
    3. Jordan Hill
    4. Brad Miller
    5. Luis Scola

I actually thought hill did a pretty good job defending in the post tonight, but the secondary and tertiary rebound efforts hurt houston tonight.

How does one defend and rebound so good from the backseat is my question.

It is just ugly with him starting with Kyle though.....Hayes at least knew how to move to the open spots to become an available target, Hill...not so much.

Actually both AB and Kyle have been struggling these last few games.....and I am not sure anyone realizes this but CBud is shooting better than AB for the year now...he is at 40% overall and 30% on 3s......

It's got nothing to do with Kyle, it's him and scola, they don't fit on offense or defense.

Even though miller is bad on defense, at least he knows mentally what to do so he can direct Hill around.

Both Scola and Hill are just clueless on rotations.

I was just gonna say, they must've sewed Lowry's and Brooks' arms onto Budinger and gave them Bud's arms. Now they aren't shooting for ....

Interesting that as soon as Hayes goes out of the starting lineup our starting unit goes to he.. For all you guys that don't understand this and you think Hill is the 2nd coming, you had better figure it out. Hill cannot function at NBA pace and make the decisions that Hayes makes with the basketball. We are going to miss Hayes terribly. We might as well start Patterson and run Scola and Patterson with the starters and keep Hill playing with Miller on the 2nd unit. Hill is simply not very good.

He's not very much of an D rebounder but he is good on the O boards.

I dont think this is worth a thread. Our interior defense sucks for the most part and our best defender in that area is out. Not surprising at all that a rookie would be second best or third, if you count JJ.

Patterson is the Shane Battier of PF. Fundamentally sound. Doesn't make mental mistakes. Hopefully he will be more aggressive than Shane.
