Is Kevin McHale our most controversial coach in franchise history?

    Look at all our past coaches' accomplishments:

    Rick Adleman coached our first playoff series victory since Dream era (and 22 game win streak)
    JVG would have done the above but refs kept nagging at Yao
    Rudy T is obvious
    Don Chaney won COY
    Bill Fitch took us to the Finals
    Dell Harris did as well
    Tom Nissalke won COY and our first Conference Finals both in 1977
    John Egan coached our first playoff series in franchise history 2 years earlier
    Tex Winter is a hall of famer (didn't do much here though)
    Alex Hannum same as above
    John McMahon coached us to our first playoff appearence, didn't do much else though

    People make it seem like McHale is the worst coach in the league. Would you McHale haters call him the worst in franchise history? I'm sticking by him for now, but if we lose in the first round I will be mad.

    I'm cool with him. If we get eliminated in the first round that'd be a different story.

    Personally I think he's decent. Its a loss so no doubt people are going to be knee-jerking but like 90% of NBA fans complain about their coach.

    I don't know about controversial, but he's the most useless since Rudy at the end of his run in 2003. Interestingly, both of them suffer from the same deficiency. They're not very good at playcalling and rely heavily on ISOs. At least Rudy knew how to coach defense.

    He's a bad coach. Yeah I'm sticking with him because he goes nowhere this season, but I'm at the point where a 1st round embarrassment could be seen as a good thing if it means McHale is fired.

    I dont really care for the guy, but its not like there wasnt gigantic fire adelman and fire van gundy threads.

    Rudy Tomjanovich was useless he only won the only two championships for the houston rockets and in the michael jordan era.

    Adelman did a great job given the hand he was dealt. Van Gundy lost 2 series the Rockets should've won and deserved to be let go.

    Been watching the Rox since mid to late 80s. In my opinion McHale is by far the worse coach I've seen coaching the Rox in that time period. I'm hoping Alexander won't renew his contract after this season.

    This Rocket team can be dangerously good sometimes. But they are not consistent enough to beat any quality playoff team.

    Much of the inconsistency are due to lack of coaching. They will have HUGE problem in winning close games.

    We already have a lot of great pieces on the team, not the head coach. That head coach was hired for rebuilding purpose. Now that the mission has been accomplished. Morey should upgrade his head coach ASAP.

    I agree with this.

    JVG's offense is about as bad as McHale's. Only thing is JVG understood the importance of playing through your superstars better than McHale.
