Is it safe to allow 15 yr old girl to ride Uber w/o adult?

    My little sister and her friend (16) wants to go to see my mom at her salon tomorrow in Sugar land but both of them do not drive and I have work. They want to leave after school and it's about 30 minutes away.

    How safe are uber rides and their drivers?

    I'm sure it's safer than Metro or riding a bicycle.

    I'm sure your sister has been in more dangerous situations than riding in an uber. She'll be fine.

    The overwhelming odds are that she'll be okay. If I had a daughter or younger sister, I wouldn't worry about it. The majority of uber drivers that I've dealt with are really friendly and not threatening

    However I will say the the reason uber left austin is because austin demanded stricter regulations on uber drivers after some sexual assault cases.

    From what I understand, anyone under 16 gets murdered immediately in an Uber when alone.

    at least arm them with pepper spray. also chances should be low of the driver attempting anything crazy since there are two of them.

    Quality of ride sharing drivers has decreased so much since the beginning. I wouldn't let my teenage daughter ride in one alone.

    They hire anyone off the street. Most of the time I get immigrants that just moved here from another country and I have to give them directions.

    I would only let them if there is a police escort closely following the uber. Or else things could get bad.

    You could always:
    - give her a taser (or gun but taser safer for her)
    - have her livestream the ride and watch it
    - FaceTime call with her the entire time
    - tell her to pass on the drivers until she gets a female one
    - have your mom make his decision because she's the mom

    I think it helpful that they'll be two of them. As a dad I would not let it happen with one of them only.

    Just make sure the driver is driving a Tesla and she'll be fine.
