god, I hate that Max Kellerman idiot, always with the same talking points. "Harden is considered a MVP candidate because of D'Antoni's system"

This idiot literally doesn't know that Harden was a MVP runner-up 2 years ago and is already a two time All-nba 1st team player, without any help from the coaching staff or teammates for that matter. Sick and tired of him implying Harden is only good because of coaching and system. What a moron.

yeah, I really miss Skip in that sense. now I just don't want to watch First Take even after a good win like this, 'cause I know that Max will hate on the Rockets and Harden no matter what.

Skip Bayless only showed Harden love because he has to be the contrarian and take unpopular positions so he can troll the tv audience.

can look ok in a D'Antoni system imagine what a stud like Harden can look like
Not to sound like i'm defending max, but he did not compare the two because there is no comparison. He just meant if a role player like lin can look ok, Imagine what he can do with a stud like Harden. No sane human being would compare the two.

If someone created a hybrid of McGrady and Jeremy Lin, James Harden would be 2 billion times better than that abomination

I just want to make it clear that these hosts story line sucked and that the Harden story line is superior

Its not catering to Harden, but utilizing his strength. The Rockets ran Harden ISO for years because McHale did not have a legit offensive system. Harden is an elite offensive talent, so when he came to Houston, the Rockets have no choice but to rely on him playing ISO and make things happen. Harden is a great enough offensive talent that even with him running ISO and PnR the majority of the time, it was enough for the Rockets to make it into the playoffs.

When D'Antoni came to Houston, he didn't name Harden the official point guard because Harden loves to hold the ball and dribble. He named Harden the official point guard because he knew what Harden was capable of.

D'Antoni knows that it is pointless to have Beverly bring the ball up, and then have Harden fight through his man just to get the ball at the top of the key. D'Antoni knows that the Rockets are only a threat when Harden gets the ball. So by having Harden run the point, the Rockets are a threat as soon as the ball is inbound to Harden. When Harden brings the ball up the court, teams have to respect his long shooting range so the defense have to come out further into the perimeter to meet him. By having Harden bring the ball up, that itself already stretch the defense out and space the floor. Shooters like Anderson, Beverly, Gordon, Ariza etc, are actually moving and sliding to open spots.

The Rockets offense this year is so much more efficient and lethal than years past is because there is actual motion in the offense. Harden being an official point guard change so much dynamics to the Rockets offense alone. In the past few years, it was much easier to defend Houston because defenses can easily clog the paint but also run out and contest the threes because shooters were just static. Terrence Jones and Josh Smith are not good enough shooters to draw anyone out and Dwight Howard camping in the paint which prevents any type of spacing for the offense.

Doesn't Kobe and Melo love to hold, dribble and ISO much more than harden? Then why didn't MDA officially name then as PG?

Not sure if I'd go the Kardashian way ... but everyone has his likings. Your is LinGrady.

LOL. Kobe and Melo hated having to pass the ball so much that they basically sabotage everything that Mike D wanted to run so they can "ISO" all day.

Harden meanwhiles love to pass and is having a MVP season by listening to Mike D.

Remember, Nash was just a decent PG with the Mavs. Nash never averaged over 8 assists in a seaon with the Mavs. He was basically Steph Curry, a SG in a PG body. Nash played in his prime with the Mavs. Nash was considered old at PG when he went to the Sun at 30 years old, that's why Cuban didn't even bother to sign him

Then he went to the Suns and Mike D make Nash into an All Time great passing PG , averaging over 11 assists every year when he was considered over the hill at age 31!!
