Goran Dragic was drafted in 2008 by Phoenix. The 2008-09 Phoenix Suns finished in 9th place in the West (46-36). Goran Dragic was traded in 2011 to the Houston Rockets. The 2010-11 Houston Rockets finished in 9th place in the West (43-39). The 2011-12 Houston Rockets finished in 9th place in the West(34-32). Goran Dragic returned in 2012 to Phoenix via free agency. After a bad year, the Phoenix Suns improved significantly, the 2013-14 Phoenix Suns are currently in 9th place again (47-33, and have lost the tiebreaker to 8th place Memphis). In sum, Goran Dragic's teams have finished the regular season in: 9th place 3rd place 9th place 9th place 15th place (so far) 9th place. 60% of the time, Dragic finished in 9th place every time.
Not coming through when we really needed him and losing like 8 games in a row to fall out of the playoffs is the reason we didnt riot at the toyota center when the rockets did not re-sign him.
Interesting. No I'm serious. I really do think this is interesting. I don't know why, but it is. Really, really good player. Not great though. It's been a joy watching his game develop over the years and how in control he is now. He can't be the best player on your team though. He is a legit 2nd guy in my opinion, but he can't be the star player on your team if you want to make some real noise.
I am happy and am getting exactly what i wanted. Memohis neating up on the spurs in the first round willonly help us if our goal is wcf.
Morris - 6th man Jeff - coach of year dragic - all NBA team green - most improved all the dragic threads - CFs fascination going at morey I use to want them to make playoffs but at middle of season after all the hype I've been hoping they finish 9th seed.
Goran made a mistake when he didn't re-sign with us. You can tell that to Channing Frye. Have you seen that PHX line-up? Doughnut in the middle. Not Goran's fault. Dragic on any of the contenders would be sick. He has another year to play in PHX before he gets his player option.
revisionist ... you forget the part where McHale and Morey went to Europe to talk to Goran to sign with us for 3 years we wanted Goran. it was that 4th year player option that was the hurdle. fans questioned why we let him go. we were more understanding why Lowry was let go because of his spat with McHale
While I agree with you, Dragic on any of the playoff teams wouldn't be the same player. He would have to sacrifice more of his game to fit in. Like Harden in OKC, Joe Johnson in PHX, and Bosh in Miami. Rather than average 20 points, I could see him in the 14-17 range so he would be under the radar nationally, but an all lefty backcourt with him and Harden sure would have been nice to watch.
Too early to tell. Memphis plays at Phoenix on Monday and then host Dallas on Wednesday. Its still very possible Phoenix comes out as the 8 seed.
