Is Bill Worrell Back?

Although cringe-worthy, I think he says that because back in his day there were up to 7 rounds in the draft.

I have never understood the fascination folks have with Calvin Murphy and his preening self-congratulatory schtick. I still find it intolerable. Keep him out of the booth.

Loved him as a player but not as a personality.

 

I do admire Craig Ackerman's loyalty to the franchise, but the difference between him and Bill is night and day. On one hand, Bill is a legend, and on the other Craig is corny, over-eager and intent on force-feeding meaningless know-it-all stats/facts about every little thing.

 

Peterson & Foley > Ackerman - on the radio.

Worrell & Murphy > Ackerman, Drexler - on TV.

I don't have a problem with Matt Bullard.

Has there only been one Griff's in Houston? I thought there was one off Chimney Rock or something, over by Ron's Pub. Am I wrong?

The thing I really like about when Bill Worrell calls the games is that he is telling stories and having a conversation during the game while also calling the game. He does both. He makes the games even more enjoyable with his banter with Bullard and even Clyde. He's really a pro in the sense that he knows how to transition from calling the action, to telling stories, to giving opinions, etc. I like Ackerman, but I miss Bill's banter when Ackerman calls the games.

It is just so bad. He retells the same stories over and over like an old man. All three home broadcasters I have to mute. Bill likes cookies, Clyde use to be able to jump high, Bullard couldn't jump high. Player X does something, would you have done that Clyde? Insert corny comeback. The information they have on opposing players is like reading headlines from 2-3 years ago. What happens when they play the same team like the Grizzlies several times in a short period of time

 

Rockets need to take a page out of the Astros book:

1) Kalas and Blum, and just massively overhaul the broadcast team

2) Retro unis. Give the people what they want!

 

Worrell was talking about how Gordon and Paul played together in NO and neither Bull or Clyde bothered to correct him.

According to Bill that Ego / CP backcourt gave the rockets a hard time.

 

MT has always been a solid play by play guy. I always liked his work when he did UH football in the 90's and hoops before he took the Rockets gig.

 

Real rockets fans love Bill Worrell. Just STFU you hipster d bags. Shouldn't y'all be busy buying garbage from hot topic?
