They are going to cost a ton of money. We don't really know right now, though Bryce Harper will give us an idea on Correa, but I'll bet you need to pad those numbers considerably for Correa.

Wouldn't surprise me if Correa's contract value is twice that of Altuve as he'll get more years and more per year. If Correa hits FA without an extension, I think $400M happens

OK. Point stands: Correa would be my priority. He's a better investment, due to age.

Springer, also at 27, has sort of come into his own this year as well. On pace to flirt with 200 hits and 50 HRs...

Great list. Nice to see Biggio and Rose have their personal best at age 32, good sign for Altuve. If he follows their trajectory of holding steady or improving from age 28-32 Altuve should be sitting at 2300+ hits by his age 33 season. Then looking again at just these other two other players, they combined averaged 174.7 hits per season ages 33-40. So add another roughly 1400 hits to Atuve's projected 2300 hits and he's sitting at 3700. I actually think he'll do better than the average of Biggio and Rose during their 33-40 seasons and he'll be 3850+ hits when he gets to 40. At this point it just depends on longevity and whether or not he wants to continue playing, it looks like right now today he would be happy to play until he's 43 or 44 as long as he's still serviceable. I don't see Altuve as the kind of guy to hold on if he can't perform. If he plays until he's 42, maybe even 41, I think he's the all-time hits leader.

Take it in, we're seeing a once in a lifetime talent right now.

Let's hope he spends his entire career in Houston then.

As much as i loved Bagwell, he was not usually very clutch. Drove me crazy.

I'm guessing Harper is about 450M+ for 7, if he stays healthy.

Altuve may be the best hitter but the best 2nd baseman was Billy D.

I think Altuve may have a season in his career that he hits in the .390's.

I cant imagine anything close to that. That's almost 65 mil per year. At most, it will be in the 35 range...max 40. I'd guess 10 years, 400...if Im being generous.

Altuve is not the best hitter in Astros history. He certainly is projected to be the best hitter, but he's basically in his sixth season and has a ways to go. Bagwell is a HOFer. Let's see what Altuve does over time. 'Tuve is definitely a machine, and if he keeps it up not only will he be the best Astros hitter of all-time but one of the games all-time great hitters. The test is longevity.

Berkman had a clutch bat, Altuve is right behind him though. If he can continue to make contact and generate runs at this rate into a world series then I think he supplants him

I don't think that's generous, I think that's a little low actually. I agree 60 million plus sounds way too high.

What makes his potential number so high is his age. When a 10 year deal would end, he would still only be 36. There will be very few, if any, age risk seasons on his deal. Because of that, I'm not sure if his camp will just go for the biggest deal possible, or a slightly shorter deal so he can hit free agency and possibly get another huge payday when the money out there should be even greater. If he stays healthy and productive, and goes the shorter contract route, he's gonna make 600 million easy, maybe as high as 800 million.

Him, Correa (assuming he maintains the level we've seen), and Trout are all gonna get 400 million deals if they want to go for one big one.

every new season i think that altuve is going to slightly regress, like there's no way he can top what he did the previous year but he continues to get better
