    Provisions include
    • A compromise over the inspection of sites within Iran, the Associated Press quotes a diplomat as saying - UN inspectors would be allowed to monitor military sites but Iran could challenge requests for access
    • Iran has accepted that sanctions could be restored in 65 days if it violates the deal, Reuters cited diplomats as saying
    • A UN arms embargo and missile sanctions would remain in place for five and eight years respectively, Reuters reports
    • Sanctions in areas including oil and gas trading, financial transactions, aviation and shipping will be lifted and billions of dollars of Iranian assets unfrozen, Iranian media report

    Any thoughts?

Let us remember this isn't just an agreement between Iran and the United States

UK, France, China, Russia plus Germany all have agreed to the accord.

    Well done Mr. Obama!

to paraphrase Krauthammer, Obama wants a deal, Kerry wants a Nobel, and Iran wants the bomb, and they'll get all three

Do you have any thoughts of your own or just reposting more random thoughts you find on twitter? Do you know any of the details of the deal?

It's okay. 140 characters is about the length of the average conservative attention span.

I have to say I am not a fan of the deal. I think unlimited access to sites at anytime would have been a key requirement we should not have budged on.

Couple of questions... did we have unlimited access to Iraq leading up to the Gulf wars? And what access do we currently have to Iran's sites?

The goal wasn't to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons, it was to get a deal done.

While that didn't answer either my questions, here's a third question... why does it have to be either "get a deal done" or "stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons."

Well because Iran wants nuclear weapons and they wouldn't agree to a deal that prevented them from developing them. They wanted relief from sanctions while still developing nuclear weapons, the US wanted to say they got a deal done. Both sides win.

I've never worried about them having "the Bomb" because it only assures their destruction if they ever used it, all told I think even the ayatollahs are rational and non-suicidal. It's certainly more about the country's significance on the world stage, and, they are going to have their hands full in Iraq, Syria and need a middleman to deal with Saudi Arabia.

In 10 years I think Iran will be more of an ally than enemy. Chaos is the real enemy civilization is facing ahead.

Foreign policy dunce Obama at it again. He's trying to create some kind of legacy, even if it means getting a deal at any cost. The US compromised on many, many points.

I enjoy the conservative position that there is no compromise in negotiation. Time will tell if this is a good deal however the alternative to a deal is most certainly war in the near future so yeah. Bush already blew a hole in the budget to screw around in Iraq so our bargaining position with respect to the threat of war is pretty weak. Thanks, Bush.

I think it's fairly evident that our 8 year waltz through Iraq weakens our ability to use the threat of war with Iran as a negotiation tactic. This is really all over your head so you're excused.
