Intangibles

    Feel free to share your opinion on the intangible qualities like leadership, charisma, team spirit, presence and other similar qualities which are perhaps hard for statistics to catch and NBA players and teams who possess them or need to develop them...

    There are no such thing as intangibles. If an event can be recorded, it can be quantified and statistical analysis can be applied to those events. Using your examples, if Shane Battier riles up his team in the locker room during half time and there's a noticible effect on player performance, statistical analysis can account for it.

    Intangibles are what people like Derek Fisher made up so they can still be employed past their expiration date.

    Intangibles: being a locker room guy

    This is why half of the bench of the NBA have a job. They are there to help "break in" the rooks and bring team morale up. See Juwan Howard for the Heat of 2011-12.
