Who? Harden? I loved Harden before he even joined the Rockets

On Clutchfans, we hate our stars and love our role players. So IMO LeBron would best be suited as a stretch-point/power forward off the bench.

There are exceptions; Brewer, Anderson, Luther Head, Jeremy Lin, Asik come to mind.

But people seem to get irrational about their favorite role players. Particularly unplayed guys or summer league guys. Classic Clutchfans. Classic backup quarterback syndrome (also see: Texans forums.)

I think Clutchfans.net confuses high expectations for hate of Superstar players. People get irrational for role players because we think they can contribute that tiny little bit that can put the team over the top.

I agree, I think CFs deserves the label of being nuts about role players. But I think superstars are just divisive by nature. With great power comes great responsibility!

Not everyone can be a super likable Hakeem Olajuwon, Craig Biggio, Andre Johnson type.

Everybody did when he was young and coming off the bench. Bet you’d hate him if he does what he does now against the rockets, look for the foul all the time, get a rep for not playing defense ect ect

Don't forget how impressed we were when he first came to the Rockets and scored 41 ppg and 7 assists in his first 2 games for the Rox. Now he does that and we expect better performances.

Harden exceeded my expectations by a lot. I thought he’d be a fringe all star guy. The best Morley could do getting an all star quality guy; especially after constantly coming up empty as he pursued many star players.

Oh absolutely I don’t, I’m just pointing out the exact thing that’s happened with cp3. CF absolutely hated him for his flopping and whinny ways but then when he joined all that goes out the window..

I think this is romanticized history. I distinctly remember discussing Harden with my uncle (who is a Lakers fan) around the time of the trade. I indicated that I was completely indifferent towards Harden; my uncle hated him. I remember Clutchfans at the time being all over the map, which makes sense for a guy that had nothing to do with the Rockets and hadn't played against the Rockets (ie, playoffs) enough to become a villain.
