Its sad that I even have think about that. I think Morgan has to be off the list to be in there, but be DHed for that means I have to want you in for defense and I don't trust Morgan's defense at all. I worry every time he makes a throw. I'd still go with the pitcher on the hopes that Adam and Ausmus could improve, but I don't think Morgan would be in the lineup at all until I actually believed he was healthy.
it depends on who is our pitcher. If it's Backe, I would let him bat, and have somebody DH for Everett. As of right now, Mo needs to be benched, or atleast moved down to the sixth or seventh spot.
Damn ... maybe I need to stick to basketball I had always assumed the DH could bat for anyone but never really made sense for anyone but the pitcher -- at quick glance though it looks like the rule is spelled out strictly for the pitcher.
That does bring up a good question though. Cause if the rule applied to anyone and Backe was pitching, I would probably have someone DH for Everett or Ausmus.
You don't have to use a designated hitter in the AL, so if a team for some reason decided not to the pitcher would bat. It is strictly for the pitcher though.
I think it was originally done as a 1 game publicity stunt, but the players and fans ended up liking it and it's here to stay. The DH is great for baesball, it lenghtens players careers and pitchers are subjected to any elbow injuries by swinging the bat. I don't understand why people complain to get rid of the DH, the players union would never allow it.
Right on. This question is odd but if I have to pick I pick Mo because the only pitcher we have with any type of bat is my boy Backe and if he was specifically listed I would go there but I can't go with the pitcher in that broad of a sense.
