    September call up.

There is no other team that is going to be able to bring to the majors as much talent as we can in September.

C Stassi- right handed catcher, exactly what we need right now.
1b- Singleton, Tyler White ( a guy with an OBP over .400, nice)
    2b- Sclafani
    3b- Moran
SS- Villar (as a pinch runner he can be deadly)
    OF Hoes, Pressley, even Grossman

Now, the real advantage is pitching.

    VV, McCullers, Feliz, Appel, Thatcher

How many teams can bring so much talent for 1 month? Of course, we have to look at who is in the 40 men roster and so on, but the talent is there.

Now, can the Astros survive this month?

They have what should be an easy series vs Detroit at home, a 4 game series vs Tampa and 3 game series vs Dodgers who are struggling at this moment, but they have great pitching. Then we go on the road to NY and Minnesota.

We need to sweep Detroit, win 3 or 4 vs Tampa and 2 out of 3 vs Dodgers (lets hope we miss Greinke or Krenshaw). Hopefully we play .500 on the road. Best case scenario:

    11 and 5

    Probable 9 and 7

If we go .500 or less, then we could be in trouble.

We still have a game in SF and one in Seattle, so thats 1 and 1 so 12 -6, 10 and 8 could be the probable number.

Lets se LA. They have 2 very tough series in KC (4 game series) and at home vs Toronto.

Still one game in Chicago, lets give them a win as Danks is pitching and already lost 2, losing 3 out of 4 at KC, spliting the 4 games with Chicago at home, losing 2 out of 3 vs Toronto at home, wining 2 out of 3 at Detroit, losing 2 out of 3 at Cleveland and one game at Oakland, i have to give them that game, unless Gray is pitching. Lets see: Best case scenario 10 and 8

Probable is they playing .500 with 9 and 9

Meaning, we should take a 3 game advantage over Angels beginning september. After that, besides schedule, who has the advantage with call ups?

This team just needs to take one game at a time and not worry about what the Angels are doing.

Correct, and win series, and play .500 on the road.

So lets start that trend today, winning at SF means we played .500 against the Giants, and the probable number improves to 10 and 6, go Astrosssssssssss

Lets go over the probable of 9 and 7 starting today.

We have 25 home/23 road games left. Angels have 22 home/28 road games left.

Considering neither team can win on the road, we hold a pretty significant advantage there.

It may sound a bit homerish, but once we get Springer back I think we are easily the best team in the west.

Outside of Trout, the Angels offense is very poor. Pujols had a hot stretch, but appears to have returned to the decent not great hitter that he was previously in Anaheim. The Rangers have a good offense, but even with the Hamels addition their rotation and bullpen is pretty bad.

Now that obviously doesn't guarantee anything, but if we are still in first when Springer gets back, we should win the division.

It's like Gomez said in an interview...it's going to come down to who is playing the best ball in September. If we have a lot of road games in September toward the end of the season, then it's probably not going to be us.

Nobody ever calls up that many players - we might bring up 1 or 2 position players and 1 or 2 pitchers. They're not going to bench the two catchers they've relied on all season for a new guy that hasn't worked with any of these pitchers, etc.

Appel, White, Sclafani and Moran aren't even on the 40 man. Where do you come up with this stuff?

.500 ball the rest of the way is not going to get it done imo.

At this point, if the Astros continue to lose every road game, then it means they have to win every home game just to break even.

Correct, thats why i say, we have to look at who is in the 40 men roster.

If we need Moran and/or Appel could be move to the 40 men roster and release guys like Hoes, Luis Cruz or Grossman.

Would it happens? Probably not, but the option is there.

Now, i do believe we are going to see Stassi as third catcher, Singleton, Villar, VV, McCullers, Feliz and Hoes. Pressley is a good bat, but you need to make a move on the 40 men roster, same with Thatcher.

So probably 7 will come up, and 1 or 2 may with changes in 40 men roster.

But before that happens, we need to win games now with what we have.

Well, just trying to look at it in a positive way. Lets see what happen.

But new thinking, if we don't win at least we play over .500 and that is a big step from last year, and going the right way.

    September schedule...

    8/31 - 9/2 vs Mariners
    9/4 - 9/6 vs Twins
    9/7 - 9/9 @ Oakland
    9/11 - 9/13 @ Anaheim
    9/14 - 9/17 @ Rangers
    9/18 - 9/20 vs Oakland
    9/21 - 9/23 vs Anaheim
    9/25 - 9/27 vs Rangers
    9/28 - 9/30 @ Mariners
    10/2 - 10/4 @ Arizona

That's a 10 game road trip in the middle of the month with 7 of the games against Anaheim and Texas. IMO, that trip determines our future. If we've got a lead after the end of that trip, I believe we win the division. After that, we have 9 at home and then 6 against 2 teams that will have been eliminated and hopefully playing out a string.

For reference, here's the Angels' September...

    8/31 - 9/2 @ Oakland
    9/4 - 9/6 vs Rangers
    9/7 - 9/9 vs. Dodgers
    9/11 - 9/13 vs Astros
    9/14 - 9/16 @ Mariners
    9/17 - 9/20 @ Twins
    9/21 - 9/23 @ Astros
    9/25 - 9/27 vs Mariners
    9/28 - 9/30 vs Oakland
    10/1 - 10/4 @ Rangers

and, finally, the stRangers because I do think they are a threat...

    8/31 - 9/2 @ San Diego
    9/4 - 9/6 @ Anaheim
    9/7 - 9/10 @ Mariners
    9/11 - 9/13 vs Oakland
    9/14 - 9/17 vs Astros
    9/18 - 9/20 vs Mariners
    9/22 - 9/24 @ Oakland
    9/25 - 9/27 @ Astros
    9/28 - 9/30 vs Tigers
    10/1 - 10/4 vs Angels

So, like, six game road losing streak to end season?

    OUCH!!!!

A possible saving grace is Rangers and Angels get to knock each other around in the standings at the end of the season.
