    Big 12
    Average Academic Rank: 303

It hasn’t been pretty on the field for much of the Big 12 this college football season, with dim prospects for getting a team into the College Football Playoff. The league also rates as the worst in the college rankings among the power five conferences, with just Texas (51st) cracking the top 100. Of the 64 major-conference teams, Texas Tech is the only one that isn’t in the top 500. And with the Big 12 considering adding two new members this year, officials have said academic profile is a factor. Among likely candidates, BYU (104th) and Connecticut (110th) would give the conference a boost, while Houston (388th) would not.

The big 12 sucks at academics and football.

I think Texas belongs more in the pac 12 or Big 10 or even the acc.

    College

    WSJ/THE College Rank
    Conf. Win % (Since 2006)
    Baylor 186 .506
    TCU 196 .590
    Kansas 298 .207
    Oklahoma 299 .770
    Iowa State 315 .216
    West Virginia 353 .432
    Kansas State 375 .540
    Oklahoma State 411 .648
    Texas Tech 501-600 .460
    Texas 51 .609

Ya the Pac, Big 10, and ACC interchange at #1 quite a bit. The Big 12 took a big hit losing A&M, Nebraska, and Colorado but neither them or the SEC were ever in the conversation.

Former President Bill Powers reportedly favored the Pac before he left and felt that UT identified closer to the California schools than others. Interesting enough, both him and current President, Greg Fenves, are Cal grads. For me, the time difference alone is a non-starter. I'm all in the Big 10 if we make a move. Well run conference, big time programs and coaches, and good academics to top it off.

Since 2006? Baylor would be much higher if it was changed to since let's say 2010.

Baylor came in at roughly #71 overall recently which is their highest academic ranking. We've been moving up consistently. Texas has actually been doing nothing but dropping in the academic rankings. They went from the mid 20s to the 50s. Funny that you didn't mention that. :)

Man you are a pathetic loser, you must be insecure about something but I guess it does suck when your university hasn't seen any success since 2005-2006.

Since the early 2000s. A&M also dropped out of the top 50.
