Ok, I'll bite. Who is this third best shooting guard of all time that you speak of? Wade or penny?

Who is a better sports analyst? The average Yahoo sports writer or the average message board poster.

Hint: It's not the Yahoo writer. (Or worse, Bleacher Report writer.)

I agree...that's exactly my point. Horry has more rings, yet the comparison is stupid. Meaning judging players just by championships is ... stupid.

FWIW, and to his credit...Shaq himself said this.

Maybe...but people downplay 'that era' WAY too much. Hakeem had some incredible blocks, but Wilt was taller, faster, and with a much higher vertical. There were a LOT of blocks he had that Hakeem never would have had.

This was a good story about Wilt AFTER he retired, at 43:

Yeah Shaq admitted Hakeem was the real deal. You don't see players trying to train with shaq in the offseason and even paying for the chance (lebron/kobe etc). /thread

Rockets were smart to put him on the payroll

Does Shaq's added PPG make up for Hakeem being so much better on defense ?

I think Hakeem gets the nod because he was so dominant on both ends of the court.

I just wish he would have had a better supporting cast when he was in his prime.

I'm judging them by ships and Finals MVPs

It remains Hakeem would prefer to have 4 ships and 3 Finals MVP and 1 acknowledged as 2nd Banana.

Than 2 ships and 2 Finals MVPs

This isn't about who the better player is. It's about which career would you prefer to have. And I can't think of anyone saying they would prefer Hakeems

Notice how blocks are not there nor defensive stats?

But I am fine with whichever anyone chooses they were both great.

Good question. Clearly, these yahoos are bereft of talent, with an editorial board to match. Both players deserve far better articles. The Dream more than anyone. Olajuwon is a member of the Hall of Fame and winner of two titles who has never been given the credit he deserves for his stellar career. That can't be said of Shaq, who has had volumes written about his own great career and remains a darling of the media.

Heh, they likely are just young and don't remember the 90s man. Shaq was way more marketed so they just know him. He is still everywhere. Hakeem was far too hard to market to the US at the time. He wasn't as cool...

I hate to say it but Shaq is just a cooler more open guy. Way more camera friendly. That said, Hakeem schooled him and anyone who knows that era will tell you the truth.
