I mentioned in another i had an interview at the city water department. Its a good general labor job. It was at least 10 other interviwees there. A white guy and everyone else was black.

I worked a seasonal job in parks and recreation. My division had a lot of blacks. Another division, the tree trimmers was all Hispanic. I say that to say the city hires Hispanics obviously. However, as far as citizenship, I'm sure the city is strict

The thought crossed my mind that maybe Trump's policies are having an impact but like i said, I'm sure the city is strict on paperwork regarding being here legally. Yesterday my mother said someone told they think they are seeing fewer Hispanics looking for without me having said any of my thoughts on the subject.

If it is having an affect would you find him more justified in his actions?

Not really, since I don’t think immigration/migration is a bad thing. What’s a bad thing is having a huge underclass of illegal immigrants under the guise of “business friendly”.

Illegal immigration has been on the decline for some years - even pre-Trump. That is because as Mexico's economy improves, there is less reason for people to immigrate. Illegal immigration from other countries has gone up though.

I can still find hard working guys wanting hard work (eta: not day labor, 6+ months at a time, room and board included)

    They're all Mexican, btw.

I hope Zef is back home in San Felipe de Guanajuato, and Junior is now working safely in Texas sending money back to him. Top shelf of the best people I've ever met in my life, and I've met a whole lot of people.

I read an la tines article saying decreased immigration and higher housing is starting to impact California's growth.

Immigration in general is becoming increasingly hostile even in the legal route. A colleague was describing his hurdles to get his wife from Pakistan over here. Some interviews can be rejected over the slightest technicality.

I guess if/when we resolve the immigrant "problem", them we start resolving the elderly welfare state "problem" out of necessity. It's not fear mongered as "rationing" right now because there's actually enough working people to fund the damn thing.
