Damn straight! If he keeps our rotation to 10 so guys can rest a bit more, I’ll finally have faith in the man. Do want to see how he adjusts in the playoffs a bit more.
The game and atmosphere was LIT last night. The stadium was soooo rockin... Can’t wait to go back and watch the game on record
He is closing fast to Rudy T's status. I love our coach because he sacrifices for his players and let his players play, talk. The Blake Griffin thing, he defended himself (yeah you), but he didn't let it fester to the next games. Most importantly, he didn't questions his players going to the Clippers locker room. Basically, he let his players, boys be boys. D'Antoni could of said, we shouldn't be going to the other locker room, but instead he stayed out and let it die. With exception to that 5 game downer in a row, he hasn't lost more than 2 in a row like last year. He has the Rockets family tight.
I like coach’s adjustments on Anderson’s play his rebounding and hustle helped a lot even though his show wasn’t falling => his positioning was different => coach’s call
Get to lose balls, sprint back on D, and reminded them that tomorrow they don’t have a scheduled game? It’s amazing that you can interpret all of that from “clap, clap, play harder.” Wait, I get it. McHale has different pitches and different speeds to his claps, and they all mean different things. McHale was actually a genius, we just couldn't see it.
And of course he’s right back to 9 guys, which probably gives him nightmares and self-hatred. You just knew this old stubborn fool would not give Green regular minutes. My guess is he didn’t like the young man’s locker room demeanour on top of just being the 10th guy. In his mind it has to be singular.
McHale wishes that he had a speech like that. That was real coach's speech. McHale "Come on guys, let's get going, come on...we gotta play harder" clap, clap. MDA "You gotta sprint back, there's no gettin' tired in this game...you have time tomorrow"
I'm not gonna rag on him for not playing green tonight . Sure , he could've played him over Gordon ... But EG had a chance to get hot too . Once it was in the 4th , he had to play who he played . But , if this becomes a trend and he doesn't give green minutes even when we have a healthy lead .... Then I'll disagree vehemently with him . Ryan even deserved his minutes tonight , I just wish he was more aggressive ... Like EG aggressive .
McHale wasn't as inspiring as that. He just whinged at the team really. "You aren't working manual labour don't complain"
MDA has done a fantastic job navigating the Paul/Harden usage/role/minutes. Both are contributing getting their shots and a chance to run the offense and they look happy and are playing great. Not to mention plenty of shots for Gordon, Luc, Ariza, etc. Should be coach of the year again.
I agree with this. Hopefully Green gets some decent chances in games with double digit leads in the 2nd/3rd quarter. Hopefully we are free flowing against the mavs and green gets like 15-25 min.
McHale tells his team to play harder, MDA tells them HOW to play harder. Letting them know they had the next day off was great too IMO. It's a lot easier to lay it all out on the court and wring every last drop of energy out of yourself if you know you have the entire day to rest the next day.
I am pretty sure MDA really appreciates Morey. After last season's meltdown against the Spurs. MDA: "Morey, I need help for Harden." Morey: "Here is Chris Paul, the best pure PG in the league since Nash and, by the way, he plays defense. Oh yeah, losing Bev stung, maybe even losing Lou, but here is Moute who is basically everything we want out of Bev and Tucker, who is a less talented but bigger version of Bev so you can throw him into one of your small ball lineups." MDA: "You're the best." Morey: "Hey, how do you feel about Melo?" MDA: "... We are civil now, but dude.. he got me fired." Morey: "So you're saying you can work with him right?" MDA: "Yeah sure, why not?" Media Headlines: MDA and Melo best friends after NYK stint. Talk everyday, like totally!
