They both need to go. If anyone is willing to take them off our hands, Morey(or his replacement) should leap at the opportunity. Brewer we're probably stuck with, but I'm sure they'll at least attempt to dump his contract. Ariza had so many open looks this series and played like complete garbage. It got to the point where he wasn't even looking for his shot anymore. Say what you will about Brewer, but at least he kept taking the open shots even when he had gone a month without hitting a 3-pointer.
Unless the guy was hurt, Ariza was lazy this season. He gave maybe 70% effort on D this year and seemed to go back to thinking this was 2010 when we signed him the first time. He really thinks he can dribble penetrate? Really thinks he can handle the ball at all? He quit just as much as Dwight did.
Ariza had a bad season and a REALLY terrible series. But I wouldn't count him out yet. I'm not sure if he should be starting though. He would be a great defensive specialist to bring off the bench... and with the cap going up his contract is actually pretty good.
More trash that needs to be cut. This Era of nba has a player like this coming off the bench not starting. He is a below average one thing player.
Too old for our rebuild of 2-3 years. Thought about keeping him to come off the bench, but he has value if traded and his decline is going to continue and get real ugly.
He absolutely shouldn't be starting, but I don't want him off the bench either. He's a streaky shooter at best, he can't create his own shot, and his defense has slipped. If we're gonna spend 8 mil a year on a reserve 2-3, let's get someone who can actually shoot and is younger and more athletic. Or just give his minutes to McDaniels. That dude maybe can't really shoot that well, but he costs less than half of what Ariza makes and is a much better finisher.
Ariza should be playing 20 mins maximum. Even that, I think it's too much. His game has really fallen off recently.
I pissed if I'm Trevor Ariza, I take the other teams best player on defense, EVERY GAME, then I watch our superstar player let people score and/or drive by him EVERY GAME. It's like playing pick up ball and 1 guy takes all the shots, plays no D and then wants to run with you again after you get drilled and have to wait hrs to get another down! Yes Ariza didn't shoot it well and has zero handles, but we all know this team was losers because of James and D12.
He can't handle the ball. Can't pass to the post. Can't inbound the ball if there is any pressure applied. Can't drive and has no midrange game. Now he can't shoot threes. Other than that his game is solid.
I'm a fan of Ariza and he is the perfect player next to Harden. He sucked this series and I'm not anyone who likes to make excuses for players, but to me it seemed to me he ran out gas. Guarding the opposing team's best player will take a toll...especially when it is against the Warriors. He kept getting picked off every play down and no one was helping out on his guy. I don't mind trading him...but we need to get really good value for him. Ariza on his current contract is really good. He just had a terrible post season.
Offense sucks and is way too inconsistent. Defense is okay but has digressed. CYA! GO ARIZA FOR THREEZA SOMEWHERE ELSE! Let them hope and pray your 3s go in. You did have a few game stretch where you were on fire this season but it was so short-lived it is hard to remember it.
