btw, I wonder if a person A puts person B in a chokehold, and they die, does everyone simply say "oops, just an accident"? Do people blame person B for their weight... or their asthma? Or does person A get charged with a crime?

If they are charged with a crime... why wasn't the cop?

 

You do know that the NYPD has been barred from using chokeholds for quite some time? Their police commissioner ruled it as a chokehold and the medical examiner has claimed it a homicide. You don't just "accidentally" get someone in a chokehold. Also "criminals" are innocent until proven guilty, no need to kill a guy suspected of selling untaxed cigarettes.

The mid term elections were last month. The place where people can enact change went ignored. The Ballot box.

 

He didn't die from the chokehold, he was in the chokehold for 14 seconds as they were taking him to the ground at which point officers got on top of him while they were cuffing him and he started to say "I can't breathe" which means that he was able to breathe at that point. They couldn't have known he had asthma or that they were actually killing the guy. The goal was to restrain a MUCH bigger man who was resisting arrest like an idiot, they didn't intend to kill him making it an accident.

 

The chokehold contributed to his death that's with the medical examiner said. The chokehold is an illegal procedure therefore he died because of an illegal procedure so it doesn't matter if it was an accident or not

 

Okay, how did it contribute to his death though? Did it contribute to an asthma attack? It certainly didn't cause physical damage according to everything I've read about it and he was breathing after it was released indicating that it wasn't so much the choke hold that caused the death as it was the fat guy's terrible health which couldn't have been known. A healthy person most likely would have come out of that situation just fine.

It was a banned takedown method, so the guy should be fired if he's not already, but it's a stretch to call it more than that. Odds are the cops pinning him down alone could have triggered something that killed him. The fat guy shouldn't have been resisting arrest and that fact is inarguable.

 

They could not have known that putting the man in a chokehold could result in his death. LOL

You do know that he wasn't choked to death by the choke hold right? You do know that he was breathing after it was released right? If there was such an inherent danger with choke holds, wouldn't MMA guys be dying left and right?
