I was settling in for the Texans game. Cracked a beer. Started Monday Night Countdown. My wife calls and says, "Hey....do you want to go to the Rockets game tonight?". Not terribly uncommon. She gets suite tickets 1-2 times a year. I said, "Uhhhhh...." She interrupts, "How about.....court side? Half court?". 35 minutes later we met at TC. We walked in and like total NOOBS went to the nearest lower bowl usher and asked "How do we get court side?". He proceeded to grab our tickets, LAUGH, then pretend to put it in his pocket and run off. We got down there feeling like we stole something. Everyone looked very rich. Many didn't seem to have much of a clue what was going on, but several were loud and rowdy. One dude behind me yelled "DON'T SHOOT CARLOS!" to Carlos Delfino, OR would yell, "DON'T LET CARLOS SHOOT!" to passing Rockets. ALL. NIGHT. Which, admittedly, it was funny. When he would miss....everyone would turn to him and he'd give us the "Told ya so" look. We ended up in the Lexus Lounge next to Jim Foley and Rusty Hardin, who appear to be good buds. I'll say, I've watched basketball since I was a kid. There is just NOTHING like watching it court side. My wife was really stunned how physical the game is. AAND how vocal the players are to each other throughout the game. Just an amazing experience. On to the pics....I used a Nikon D7000. You can't take a lens that telescopes more than 3" from the body of the camera, so I grabbed my 50mm prime before heading out. To my pleasant surprise, 50mm was TOO CLOSE for several shots.
