It is the same issue economists have. You expect people to act rationally. They usually don't.

They mistake "he SHOULD never be President" for "he WILL never be President".

Lots of people said he wouldn't and shouldn't be president but never laughed about it. The only idiots are his primary and general election voters; bad choice for petty reasons that everyone will be paying for fifty years from now.

Heck... look how many people on this discussion group won't even admit they supported him and that they voted for him?

Clearly all the trump defenders on this site voted for him. Most simply claim they didn't...

The video just underlines something that's been apparent from the start: Trump supporters are motivated by the negation of liberalism, period. What the talking heads were guilty of was hoping that America was more decent and informed than it actually is.

The only celebration in the making of such a video is a perverse satisfaction at liberals being miserable. Nice motivation y'all have there, but in any event, Two Scoops clearly rules by this one law: negate everything that even a moderate democrat might like or approve. There's no other vision but backwards, floor the accelerator in reverse, come what may.

Governance as spite, as schadenfreude. We'll see how that works out for the US of A. Probably the functional end of us as an important global topic, and maybe that's for the best.

You don't have to be a mind reader to know that the only person who would post a video of mocking liberals about Trump is a Trump guy.

you'd be wrong dude. There are in fact some people STILL in the world who identify as "radical centrists." I am one of them. And I think that video is simply hilarious for what it says about smug self-righteousness and human nature in general. Of course your mileage may vary. ;)

oh yeah. life long registered Democrat. didn't vote for Trump. Didn't vote for Hillary either. form your own conclusions.

I don't know you personally well enough to form any conclusion about you. I can only say that a lot of "centrists" on here are just alt-righter pretending to be "centrists" to give their posts more cred. Take BobbyG for instance.

I wonder what you believe in being a radical centrist, as I classify myself as a pragmatic centrist who voted for Clinton.

Politics is a winner take all system; for example, environmentalists who voted for Stein shot themselves in the foot and voted against their own self interests.

Call it being smug but living 4 years in a ultra right wing bubble(4 years in Marine infantry barracks) it's more pity and being rationally concerned for a larger portion of America. Their addicstion to using social media like their Facebook news feed to spread their circle jerk narrative have made them irrational beings.

It's like a feedback loop from hell.

Trump is smart because he was voted in president.

He was voted in President by a bunch of idiots.

Nah, it might be a bit of gallows humor, but it's still funny to remember the irrational overconfidence of some never trumpers. I sometimes minimized Trump's chances pre-election too, but I also remembered that presidential elections are generally 50-50 and that there was always a risk something bad could happen. Some posters here threw caution to the wind, reproached me and mocked any idea that Trump could be at all competitive. Now, I really didn't think he would win and declared as much, but yeah that irrational liberal self-confidence was pretty annoying and foolhardy, here and elsewhere. It probably helped lose the election.

I’m not a Trump guy at all, and I think the video is interesting nonetheless, whether we want to call him it naïveté or hubris. Really, I think it was both.

You had guys like Seth Meyers and John Oliver making fun of Trump and his supporters. In the end, the joke is on them (and the rest of us who were shocked by what happened).

It still is laughable to consider him as a serious president.

I do think the media let way too much crazy crap get through because they found him entertaining and not a serious threat. Instead of calling stuff out, they pointed at it and laughed; while ratings went up as the reality TV star kept moving through the primaries.
