    This is a great article.

You don't have to agree with the ban on these videos but I think at least acknowledge that this is an issue.

btw Steve Bonnel aka Destiny who was mentioned in this article has done a lot to change my own perspective on different issues. He articulates his points and uses simple logical arguments in his debates. People should probably check him out.

This reads like a fabrication... like what someone would make up in their head if they wanted to demonoze youtubers who make political commentary they don't want around. And these youtubers he watches largely don't appear 'alt right'. This is some boogeyman tactics from the corporate media who are losing control over the marketplace of news and commentary. Nothing more. Of course mainstream outlets will push this crap. It is largely acrimonious calumny from a bunch of dirty smear merchants.

I think what they're trying to present is the funnel effect where one starts with mainstream right-wing YouTubers and then depending on the person they move toward more extream ideas and youtube channels which believe me there are plenty of those on youtube.

There will always be ends of the political spectrum. This doesn't actually establish any proof youtube is a net negative and it doesn't show how it actually does make people worse off. And it just follows some source who could be fabricated and likely is considerong how his quotes read. In fact, allowing people to share ideas makes people less likely to lash out. And this doesn't account for the fact that people can click out of say neo nazi content.

Agreed! YouTube is capable of "steering" viewers toward violence.
Agreed: YouTube "steers" viewers' perception of history and recent events?
Agreed: YouTube "steers" viewers' perceptions of U.S. violence against other nations?

it's repackaging neo nazi beliefs. Obviously, they understand that if they call themselves nazis they're not going to go anywhere in 2019

Because of Youtube's algorithm I guess? Yeah, they should explain that one lol. DeFranco is a mainstream perhaps SLIGHTLY right leaning?

The article never makes a claim that Youtube is bad, that it is a net negative, and that it makes people worse off. Just that it throws people down a rabbit hole towards extreme views.

You can say it doesn't happen but Youtube themselves say it does.
So let's not get into if I have sources or data, the company acknowledged it is an issue.

Also, you can't opt out of these videos. You can decide not to click on them but they will still be in your recommendations bar. One Joe Rogan video can lead you to one Dave Rubin video which leads you to Crowder which then leads you to Molyneux and at that point you're well into some fringe views.

Not to say that Rogan, Rubin, or Crowder are fringe or radical, they are not, but the rec bar will throw these videos at you to see if you're interested and then you're watching a video about the 'Great Replacement' does that term sound familiar to you?

Sure they can but there are a small number of people who fall in that trap and ruin the rest of their lives. The guy that shot up the synagogue in SD would be a great example of someone who fell in that trap. How does a normal kid who grew up in a stable family become so radicalized that he thought killing innocent people is justified?

It would benefit you to spew less and think more - and yes, probably watch less YouTube. If people here wanted a regurgitation of a highschool minded right wingers such as yourself, they clearly can get it on Youtube. In fact, that would like explain your irrational and poorly thought out views and hatred of the left.

So here's some advice you should take: Don't believe everything you are reading and try to actually make up your own mind. You'll find you'll come across as a whole lot less conspiracy theorist.
