I'm starting to get a bit antsy about Cov. We've been looking for a wing player who can be a 3&D type player but we've yet to give him a chance. I think he may be ready to get some limited minutes now atleast over Garcia.

Spoon feed him minutes until he gets it. He's already the greatest player in Vipers history.

Like I said in a thread about a month ago I'd rather have Covington on the bench than Brewer.

Is he better at twirling the towel?

    I don't get this comment.

As a back up I'm saying. If somebody does happen to go down at the wing position I'd rather have Covington there ready than Brewer.

There's no room unless Lin gets traded. The Rockets youth always warm the bench forever anyway.

They'll get you all excited that he's on the team and then play him 30 seconds. I wouldn't bother thinking about him this year.

Maybe Covington will steel another 90 seconds of Lin if the match up permits it.

What's the opportunity cost of playing Garcia over Covington?

Fans tend to get hyped up about small things like a very good d-league performance. An undrafted player who dominates the d-league is then qualified to fill the twelfth spot on the bench in the NBA. The Rockets coaching staff bring players along at the correct pace. Parsons? Qualified to start his rookie season. Jones and D-Mo needed more player development to be in the rotation of a quality NBA team. Covington will play when he is ready. It is impossible to forecast from a fan's perspective. Sit tight and be patient.

We also need to stop holding down Canaan.

No, it is very easy to forecast as a fan. Accuracy may be tough, but generally guys fit one of three categories for Rockets. NBA or near NBA ready, See you second half of rookie season/early second, Royce White. I am forecasting he fits in the second category.

Yeah, it's incredibly easy to make horrible forecasts.

Canaan needs to be held down!! IHe's like 0 for 20 with the Rockets. He hasn't made a shoot with the Rockets yet.

What exactly is near NBA ready? I have already said that Covington has earned the twelfth spot on the Rockets bench. From there it is just a matter of how he matches up in practices with the Rockets roster. And neither you nor I know the answer to that.

Too late you did it yourself.... Fail...

Every rookie has to prove themselves first, just like TJones and DMo did. And McHale like veterans more than rookies.

Every NBA coach likes veterans over rookies. The one exception is very high lotto picks. And the Rockets don't have any recent ones on the roster.

Tearing up the D league doesn't always mean anything. Greg Smith was a beast at RGV. That said, I think he could contribute a little bit this year off the bench, but next year is when we'll really be paying attention.
