Why not? I thought you guys said he had all the tools to be an all time great? He could shoot, pass, ect. What happens if he continued to be that defensive stopper he was on Toronto?
Lady-Mac was one of the most talented player to ever play the game sure, but the fact that he was mentally weak all over doesn't put him close to Jordin, Kone and James. That's all he was a mentally weak players that loves jumpshot. I admit during the liget Kobe vs She-mac era during oo-o6 year, I was the ones that pick him as the better overall player since Kobi had Shaquelle Oneal. That's where his career ends which is too bad and a lot of bad luck. But I think Kevin D is similar to tracy and might be just as talented offensively. Is it me or am I the only person that appriciate t-macs vision and playmaking abilities more then his other criteria? I think Jeffy Van Gundy mention he was one of the smartest player in the league and could handdle the point G position if he needed to. I think he has that part better then Kobe and Dewain Wade.
No Mentally weak player could put up those kind of numbers, scoring champions twice, come on bro get real, he was one of the best at attacking the basket and dunking on people. Ohh and Kevin D is better than T-mac and his offense is better than t-mac..?? What the hell you smoking ..?
T-mac's offensive ceiling was leaps ahead of KD's simply because of his passing ability, a player that athletic with that kind of playmaking ability who has a legit mid range game!!?!? you for real? That's an unguardable threat, we're seeing something similar from Kobe just these past two years...t-mac was doing it 7 years ago. He WAS a very special player, and could've been one of the if not the best player if he had worked.
TMac had one of scoring titles with a 21 wins team, how mentally tough could that be? KD has one scoring title already. And I see him winning at least one playoff series in the next 3 years. Easily a better player than TMac.
who tha hell is talking about KD ?? and KD Maybe will win playoff series and go deep in the playoff bcuz he has young group of guys who could help him in the playoff, T-mac never had the supporting cast. P.S. not defending T-mac just to make sure.
Prime Tmac (01-05) could do anything he wanted to do on the court and there wasnt anything anyone could do about it. The only other player that I got the same feeling of awe from was prime Jordan (86-91). Also had the defensive talent to shut down 4 positions (1-4) but only played defense when he felt like it. Absolute complete set of offensive skills. Lebron can't handle like Tmac and doesnt have a midrange game, Dwade doesnt have a 3pt shot & Kobe, Dwade can't pass like him. Tim Duncan has said he was the best in the league in 02-03. His downfall was his heart. When his shot wasnt falling, he should have kept driving to the hole and getting to the line. This is what separates him from Jordan, Kobe, Dwade, Lebron, etc... I don't know if the reason he did'nt do this is because of his frail body (this is why I can't hate him). Talent/Potential - top 3 of all time (after Jordan & Olajuwon). Production/Results - not even top 50. This is why so many people hate him. Soo much talent, Soo much dissapointment.
He's lost his aggressiveness. That is why he sucks. Yao gets injured year after year, he still plays the same style of basketball and puts up the same numbers. Granted Yao made full recoveries each and every year... but nonetheless. Tracy has notably become less and less aggressive each and every year. Less driving to the rim and finishing, less cutting, less moving in general, and more standing around aimlessly jacking up long jumpshots and contested threes. It is possible to will yourself to recovery from injuries... Tracy didn't want to "impose his will" into his own recovery I guess...
Arguably the best player at that time offensively, subpar defender (although there were flashes of brilliant defense), and just didn't give a damn how tall, short, or skilled his opponents were.
You teamed up with YM and you can't win a playoff series? Game 7 2007, Rox led 5 with 5 minutes left, in home floor. TMac couldn't do a damn thing to close it out. Stop complaining support, a true superstar would will the team to win in such situation. TMac just stood in 3 pts line and bricked after bricked. so much about "it's on me"
I Remember when Tmac played for the magic, this one game he dropped 50 plus on us and it didnt even seem like he was trying at all. I remember cuttino and all the other rockets trying their best to stop him, and they were dumbfounded .. and it just seemed like another day at the office.. he would post up, drive in for a dunk or just shoot over people... he was like 6 ft 8 who could drive by bigger guys and shoot over faster players.. not only that he came into the league as a defensive expert bc he played with vince carter so he had that . and few would argue he was the best passing sg / sf in the league .. remember the dallas series when he had to guard dirk bc juwan was out bc of his heart? and he also led rockets in scoring .. he was amaazing
When T-Mac was on top of his game, he was always compared to Kobe. And you will always get this answer: Kobe is better than T-Mac because he won 3 rings. Kobe is better player because he is clutch. Sounds familiar? Yes, when u compare Lebron with Kobe today, this is what you get too: Kobe is better than Lebron because he won 5 rings. Kobe is better player because he is clutch. So a prime T-mac basically is the same level as Lebron today because both won ZERO ring. Yes, Lebron may been to the Finals compare to T-mac the first round virgin, but to lakers and kobe fans they are the same.
T-Mac was easily within the top 5 in the league. I remember him in Toronto being a defensive specialist earlier in his carreer and even when he had transformed into a prolific scorer, he was still lock-down D. It reminded me of a longer more athletic plastic man (Augmon). I do wonder what what could have become had he and Yao been more durable in their partnership. All those injuries and first round bounces, I think, is the culprit in his ultimate demise. While i think he could have gotten around the latter, there's no denying the former was just unfortunate. I can't even think about any star at his level that performed at that high level given those series of injuries. It was a great move on Houston's part and i still believe that any team would have pulled the trigger given the opportunity. There was just no forseeing the future events.
that's the problem with tmac. his whole career is a big 'IF' but he never really did anything but put up numbers. kinda like lebron did this past play-offs. triple double.. yay. but they lost... which means maybe he shouldve been scoring more n passing less.
If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. He was definitely talented; there's no debating that. The question at hand, however, is whether or not he was a top 5 all-time player. He was not. I mean, despite all the circumstances, he's yet to make it out of the first round. I'd like to think that playoff success is a prerequisite for determining these kinds of things. No one said he wasn't. But to say he was a top 5 all-time player... I mean...
Everytime I checked the box scores back in the 01 season Tmac always had 30-something points next to his name. Very impressive. Much like how you always see Dwight Howard grab 13+ rebounds on a nightly basis.
