In a state of continual warfare. From National Geographic: As the article mentioned, violence has been up since December 2013. A recent massacre took place Thursday: Could have started this thread about Iraq or Libya but the former Sudan has been messed up for so much longer, it seems.
Actually, I hear North Sudan is quite nice this time of year. Especially when nobody is committing ethnic cleansing or genocide or anything like that. Another massacre today:
It's horrible. Was just reading another article about the Mosque massacre and UN officials who have seen the aftermath describe it as "Piles and piles of bodies." They are saying this is turning into another Rwanda with the members of the Nuer tribe battling members of the Dinka tribe. I doubt the World is going to do much. Massacres in Africa don't make the news much and even the oil in South Sudan isn't going to draw in outside forces..
