I don't get the point of your list? At first thought it only included high picks that won a Ring or lead their teams to the Finals. But then saw crap like Kevin Love, Aldridge, Allen, etc. Your list doesn't really have a meaning imo. And you also leave out the great players that were drafted a tad lower but carried teams to a championship.

He even messed up the contracts of Jones and Motiejunas. They are signed to their rookie deals for another season, which means they are RFA's when the salary cap goes to $90M. If the Rockets want to keep both they will.

I think they are both going to be used in a sign and trade for LA.

Unless I missed it, the article missed citing Corey Brewer, who was on the 2011 championship team in a tiny role, was let go 'for a bag of chips.'

Not necessarily. The thing with the Mavs is their continued success and Cuban's brand as one of the best owners around along with the innate appeal of Texas (no state income tax, moderate weather, not high profile but not low profile either) is they will attract FAs who want to win since they have capspace, for example there are rumors that De Andre Jordan wants to play there next season. So for example they get Jordan and then make a recruiting pitch for LMA, they can have a whole new core of Jordan, LMA and Parsons next season. Not exactly championship caliber, but enough to be competitive. Who knows, maybe Monta takes less and joins as a 4rth star.

LOL there are more players than there are teams, if any one of those guys go to the Mavs then that means they overpaid again.

I would definitely be behind this. Been an fan of LA for years.

That was a good read to see a mavs writer give the rockets org credit for team building. It would totally be laughable if Cuban poached another 'chandler parsons' from the rockets.

Except none of that has helped them attract FA's of late. His brand...their city...moderate weather...none of it was enough. Ultimately, guys are going to seek places to win along with other stars...the Mavs don't have that to offer anymore.

There's a part of me that wants them to overpay De Andre Jordan...mostly so they have to stare at the Astros logo on his shoulder all season and while the Rockets run them off the court.

While that is possible, it seems pretty unlikely. The Mavericks have never been able to do anything like that in the past when they have had space. The best free agents they have gotten under Cuban are probably Ellis and Parsons. They would be doing really well to get one of those guys.
