I think there's a building Downtown where you can ride the elevator up to an observation deck to check out the city. San Jacinto monument, Waterfall by the Galleria, if not then maybe they'll enjoy the endless sprawl of shopping centers and restaurants

Well, they came a week too late; otherwise, I would have said to take them to see Corey Brewer's goat.

I always say it in "Houston attraction" threads. If they have any interest in modern art and "culture", The Rothko Chapel is a really big deal. As a bonus, The Menil right next door has a really interesting, if odd, collection of African tribal art and other antiquities housed right next to modern stuff like Jackson Pollock, Man Ray, and Andy Warhol.

On the other hand, if they aren't into modern art, their reaction the the Rothko will be, "WTF is this? Your joking, right?"

If you live inside the loop, you have a few things like museums, hotel Zaza, montrose, midtown / downtown

Outside the loop - maybe a Chuck e Cheese or a waffle house or may be a Lowe's

Rocket River's friend can come ride with me in traffic on Lamar. We'll go 0.5 miles in 45 minutes.

Honestly, best thing about Houston is food.

Lots and lots and lots and lots of variety of food.

Great Mexican food (both tex-mex and authentic).
    Great Seafood
    Great Indian/Pakistani food.
    Great Cajun food.
    Great Vietnamese food.
Hell you can get Vietnamese Cajun food.
    Some decent American food.
    Great other types of food.

    Lot's of food.

What are some of the great non-Tex-Mex Mexican spots?

610/59 during rush hours, then just watch local news and count how many convenient stores were robbed today

    Hugos
    Cuchara

    I'm sure there are more.

Plus taco trucks are pretty much everywhere on the southwest side.

Oh also forgot, there's good Mediterranean food here too. Greek/Turkish/Middle Eastern.

In terms of food, variety is huge.
