Just announced......... Seems like the same list every year. Not really impressed. http://announcements.rodeohouston.com/ March 1 The Band Perry March 2 Chris Young March 3 Jason Aldean March 4 Jason Derulo March 5 Cole Swindell March 6 Shawn Mendes March 7 Miranda Lambert March 8 Pitbull March 9 Brett Eldredge March 10 Luke Bryan March 11 Darius Rucker March 12 Billy Currington March 13 Los Huracanes Del Norte | Banda Los Recoditos March 14 Kenny Chesney March 15 Kid Rock March 16 Jake Owen March 17 Florida Georgia Line March 18 Little Big Town March 19 Brad Paisley March 20 Keith Urban
Not too impressed. I was going to try and bring my wife down, as she's never been. Then, her work screwed up her vacation. I may still try and go down for the first season, though. Not sure who I'd see...
surprised that they didn't have kelsea ballerini. the chick is probably the hottest act in county right now. also maddie and tae and sam hunt
I'm surprised they didn't have Sam Hunt or Thomas Rhett. I would have gone to see him. The other two you mentioned - I don't think they're any more popular or better than anyone they have.
kelsea ballerini was the first female artist since carrie underwood to score a number 1 single with her debut song on the country charts. They are comparing her to the next taylor swift. Her song, "Dibs" is rapidly moving up the charts at #12 this week, up from 16 last week. She is certainly the top young female to come to country music in a while.
Where is the tejano group?? Went last year to see some country singer and I was not disappointed. I'm debating if should do Derulo or Pitbull.
Weak/whack line up. I'm going in not knowing the country acts, but I remember these acts from last year.
Jason Derulo on Black Heritage Night is a big let down, IMO. Depending on who the zydeco act at the Hideout is that night I don't think I will be going. I may checkout Chris Young though.
That's because it purposefully is the same list every year... because people want to see these cookie cutter pop country acts.
Also, Kelly Willis I believe is going on tour with her classic band lineup. I WOULD go see her. Another I'd like to see is Maria Mckee. But I don't believe alt-country is ever really represented at the HLSR. Another I'd like to see is Ricky Skaggs.
I'm not sure why people act surprised every year. The Rodeo always has been primarily popular modern country acts with a few other acts sprinkled in. If you don't like country, particularly modern pop country, you won't like the lineup, but it's not a new development. I can't stand most of the acts that they have every year.
She is playing at the Sidewinders Steakhouse and Saloon in Roanoke, VA on 01/20, so you can see her there.
I am not sure what people expect. It is a rodeo in a huge venue. For the most part, they get extremely popular county music stars. It seems they have accomplished that.
Give people a chance to flex their snobbery muscle and they'll do so every time. It's like a hipster dogwhistle.
Or, if you would prefer to see her in Chicago, she'll be at Joe's Bar on Weed street, February 4. Or the Macon Centreplex in Macon, Ga on February 27. Apparently she's on the bill with Billy Corrington. If you can't catch her that week, you can go there on 02/20 and ice skate.
