Every year the Rockets talk about trading up. I am not getting excited until it is done.

What are the Rockets trading to get into the 1st round? I can't see Gordon being moved. The team is "win now."

The need to add young players is there. But to get into the 1st round? I'd sooner believe the Rockets buying a 2nd round pick than getting into the 1st.

Watch these spots in the 2nd round for buying picks.

Hard for me to respect a twitter "journalist" who says BREAKING: followed by admitting it's a 6month old story, and cyberx broke it here, followed by several big news outlets .... 6 months prior.

Not only that, but it's his pinned tweet

What the hell does "according to sources" mean when you are 6 months late. imso, that's the biggest evidence that he either is making up his sources, or they are horribly, out of the loop, yet convinced him this info is new?

Nothing wrong with recycling news, but to call it BREAKING is disingenuous and puts into question everything about him...it makes him just noise trying too hard to be heard. And now he's using the "multiple sources" technique, lulz.

Plus, I don't trust ppl who say they are a Rockets insider in their twitter profile.

I would welcome the dirty b*stard.

He can shoot and is competitive as hell.

Maybe it is a way to test the market for Eric Gordon. Find his value.

Great that teams are interested but Gordon would be pivotal to a lebron deal.

True, but also, maybe that much-lauded pick we're after would be part of a LeBron deal. Wouldn't Cleveland rather blow it up if/when LeBron leaves?

There were few Leslie Alexander types with their "let's improve with picks in the 12-14 range while remaining competitive".

This still might just be a way for Rockets to unload Ryno's contract.

    so maybe ...

You trade EG for the draft pick,
Select the player that CLE wants (effectively giving CLE another 1st rd pick this yr).
Then Trade the rights to the drafted player and ___________, for LeBron.

Not sure of the cap implication. Just speculating out my a$$.

Dont want to trade EG unless it lands us Lebron. EG has been ice and cold but we need his production off the bench and when he's hitting, he doesn't miss.

He also hit one or two game winners last season.

You do not trade Eric Gordon unless you are supremely confident in a free agent joining the team in his place. The Rockets aren't in a position to regress just for the sake of getting younger.

The big problem with that is assuming it's a sign and trade for LeBron, we have to come up with $13.5M additional salary to make the match work. Including EG in that trade means we don't have to include PJ+more.

I think we would do everything in our power to keep PJ here (although, for LeBron.....)

I guess I was wondering if EGO and whatever for the Philly pick, then that pick and whatever (a lot of whatever) for LBJ.

Trading Gordon might be a Tilman influ nice. Maybe he accepts resigning Clint and CP3 but doesn’t want to be drastically into the luxury cap if it means no Lebron. Sounds like a salary cap savings move if we get rid of Gordon and I lose faith in the upcoming season.

Correct. It goes against everything Tilman has said to this point, but if this does happen and they don't land a FA, then yeah...that's the motive, which would be unfortunate.
