Hornets offer #22 pick for taking on Jeremy or Spencer contract

Lamb actually had a somewhat productive season in Charlotte. Averaged almost 20 mpg and had a 15.9 PER. He just isn't good enough on D for the coach to trust him once playoffs roll around. As such he is expendable if the alternative is to lose a player who actually did make the playoff rotation.

 

Tbh I think Hawes would be a great addition if we had our core already locked into contracts. But since we are still trying to figure out what we are doing with our large offers, can't really bite here.

 

I was assuming he would sit on our bench and never play a minute for us. I'd still do the deal. The draft is a chance to hit a home run. I don't think we'll be able to do that in free agency, and we have cap room. This is a golden opportunity that we need to look into. You can't find a better use of the cap space.

Kind of shows how some advanced stats can be misleading if you're only playing backup minutes. He was ranked #5 in DRPM for SG and #15 for overall RPM for SG.

I'm really not sure why the Hornets signed Lamb to an extension. I guess they were trying keep him on a cheap contract as a 3P shooter, but he ended up only shooting 31% from 3P. Is a guy who played only 1227 minutes during the regular season and only got garbage time minutes in the playoffs worth $7 mil per? Even with the higher cap?
