It's been a great season that doesn't quite reach the highs of the first season, but is still miles better than the second.
Agree with others that it's not as thrilling as season 1, but the acting for Mahershala Ali, Stephen Dorff and Scoot McNairy has been incredible. There are only two episodes left and, by this point, we haven't had as many fireworks as season 1 (the neighborhood single-track scene and Reggie Ledoux). However, the performances are all compelling enough to want to see where it goes. The story is also neater; there's one narrative, but told across three different time periods. This is all coming from someone who stopped watching season 2 after two episodes and never looked back.
Season one was better overall but I would argue the acting in this season is right on par with the first one. The cast has been amazing. There are two episodes left though, so you never know.
Awesome, I've been hesitant ever since the creative disaster on all levels that was season 2, but I'll give s3 a go based on this.
Yet another outstanding episode. The tone and noises in the background made this episode incredibly creepy. Right up there with top notch horror movies. And the cast was at the top of their game as always. I also love how we already pretty much know the crux of what happened but there are just enough loose ends to keep me interested. The story has been beautifully orchestrated. I cant wait to see how they pull it all together.
Outstanding season. I thoroughly enjoyed the ending, even though it went pretty much exactly how everyone figured it would, save the "twist" at the end. Roland West might be my favorite tv character of all time. Amelia might be my least favorite ever. She was WAY overdone.
Yeah that was a bit frustrating.....outside of that I did enjoy most of this season even if the finale felt a bit too tidy....
I enjoyed the finale. Spoiler: Spoiler I appreciate that it had a "tidy" and somewhat happy ending. Like the best parts of season one, this story was never really about the case. Mahershala Ali played the meeting with Julie Purcell so well. I swear, there was a glimmer in his eyes while he was drinking that cup of water that made it seem like, for a moment, he knew who she was before it slipped away into the fog of his mind. While crimes were committed, I'm also glad that some of the more sinister aspects of season one didn't apply here. The suggestion of a child sex ring by the interviewer was a red herring and I'm glad that this case was contained within one family instead of being something widespread. One note: I cannot believe HBO published a behind-the-scenes photo weeks ago of the actresses who played Isabel and Julie together in the cave. That photo alone served as the blueprint for figuring out the main plot on Reddit.
