This needs to be given every award for cinematography right now. Just don't even bother nominating anyone else.

Some of the visual clues here are haunting, and so effective in their simplicity. The scene with Ludmilla hugging her husband in the radiation ward with the lights flashing like you were getting an X-Ray added such a subtle, yet terrifying element to that scene.

The opening in the apartment with everyday things just sitting there like someone just got up - such a great portent of things to come.

The people just casually standing and watching the fire as the ash falls on them almost unnoticed.

    So many good examples!

The lingering shots of the Pripyat evacuees boarding the buses...and their single suitcase. They were told they'd only be gone for 3 days or so, and were only allowed the one suitcase, and had to pack in a rush. They have never been back to their homes. It's like losing everything you own in a fire, but all there stuff is still sitting there, exactly where they left it.

What is strange is that their clothes and belongings are (sort of) still on fire just not quite as hot as they used to be -- radiation is creepy.

I’m trying my best team to refrain from turning this thread into a D&D thread lol, but I’ll just say this is terrifying to see in such a vivid reinactment. The show is so good and horrifying you almost forget that this was real and how much the effects are still being felt to this day, and how unbelievably long they will be felt for the future.

Never knew that the disaster could have been exponentially worse with 3 other reactors being present. Thank god for those scientists, engineers and of course workers for doing as much as they did, especially considering how completely unprepared they were for this situation.

Awesome production, glad this was made!

I get what they were trying to do but spent too much time on the killing of the animals. Was already hard to watch that stuff knowing it would happen.

Humans as usual **** up thebworld for other species

This show made me do a quick look at 3 mile island

Wondered how would the American reaction have been different.

We are the strongest and most resilient virus Earth has ever known.

    The world is in peril:
    Russian !: We need help
    Russian 2: Americans?
    Russian 1: Hell No!

Friggin biorobots. Has there been any other world power that have sacrificed more men than the Soviet, being war or **** like this? That mass of land has seen so much in such a small amount of time and here they are poking the bear that is another WW.

I felt the buearocrat's frustration when he found out that the government lied to the Germans and gave them the "propganda numbers"

    Skarsgard is a fantastic actor.

Anybody that works a front line of anything, is usually frustrated by the decisions passed down from the higher ups

This may very well be one of the best shows I've ever seen. Very few shows reach this level across the board. The acting, directing, writing, cinematography, set design, and storytelling is just all expertly done.

I didn't like ep4 as much as the previous episodes ... it just seemed like less plot development happened , the pace was slower .

Still really enjoying the show and eagerly awaiting next Monday

Even more shocking is their mastery and use of the English language, making you wonder, what were they really up to and where is this going.

Ummmm so this show is the ****. obviously a dark subject but everything is so well done from the acting to the cinematography to the writing. Just a slam dunk 10 out of 10.l. ooking forward to watching the 4th episode tonight.

The miner boss and some of those scenes are truly some of the best I think I've ever seen.

    I’m only through 2 episodes.

Hard to remember two first episodes of any show being this good. Even the best of the best type shows.

It is just so amazingly good.
