The difference is that the black old lady has had people use her hair and other superficial differences to treat her as a lesser person for much of her life. She's been denied opportunities and access because of her race and the stereotypes that were invented by white old men. The white old man has never been denied a thing because of his race. His race has never been used to have society treat him as a lesser person.
