Blaming Black Lives Matter probably brought more attention to the case instead of diverting it. It was a very strange thing for him to do if he already knew of the love triangle.

This story suggests that the judge saw too much corruption on the prosecution side of this argument and decided she could not be part of it.

Yeah. This smelled funny from the start when I noticed the DA's manner during the initial press conference when she "enacted" the shooting with her hands. You don't do that sort of thing publicly if you have to try a case because you are tainting the potential jury pool. You'll notice that this incident and the one in Illinois where another officer was shot have really dropped off the radar so to speak. Most strange. Two high profile incidents of police officers being murdered. Authorities are quick to infer that the Black Lives Matter movement is somehow responsible which generates huge reaction in the national press and then nothing. Does not track.

[rQUOTEr]There are breaking new developments in the murder investigation of Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Darren Goforth. We've received new documents in the case.

Miles' attorney is asking questions about how the woman who claimed to be having an affair with Goforth was handled the night of the shooting.

Defense attorney Anthony Osso wants to talk to anyone in law enforcement who talked to her that night. Who told her to leave the scene of the murder or why?

There have been persistent questions within the case about whether or not she was given special treatment after investigators at the scene were able to figure out her relationship with Dep. Goforth and a possible hint that they tried to hide her.

The sheriff's office denies any wrongdoing and the DA's office has no comment.

Osso questions the timeline in the new papers filed on Wednesday. He says the DA took two weeks to be told about the witness and the defense attorney wants to know if the sheriff's office was hiding anything. To determine that, they say they'll have to talk to all the investigators involved.

The homicide detective that was fired was one of my First 48 heroes.

It'll be pretty bad if the murderer in this case either gets off or has a greatly reduced sentence because the sheriff's department or the DA and folk tried to hide the existence of this woman. It shouldn't matter since the guy murdered the cop in cold blood, but sometimes weird technicalities can open up unforseen loopholes.

They were filing for divorce anyway right? Even then though, she is still gonna have love for him and love for her kids who will always miss their dad. This is something where you can have both emotions.

Same here. He was the main dude for Harris County on that show, with that cool accent.

Such a weird story. I knew there had to be more to this than just a guy randomly walking up to a police officer and shooting him in the head multiple times for no apparent reason.

Seems pretty obvious that he was having an affair with this woman and the murderer was the jilted ex boyfriend and/or lay.

I don't recall reading about the impending divorce. Where was it mentioned?

I'm not questioning your judgement on this, just wondering why that would be the case.

This paragraph is kind of troubling:

    Such an odd timeline:

    • drive your truck to gas station, shoot officer in the head 15 times
    • return home, park your truck in the driveway
    • go shopping with your mom
    • return from shopping trip to find police searching your house
    • immediately tell police exactly where the gun you used to shoot officer 15 times in the head is

It is very odd. Makes me wonder if perhaps someone used him as a patsy. If they somehow had access to his gun, used it for the murder and then planted it back in the bag in the garage? Seems bizarre...but hell, EVERYTHING about this case is bizarre.
