Hardens TO's really matter?

  1. Yes, we'll never win a playoff series with this

Interesting stat: Harden has as many Triple double games this year (14) as he does games with UNDER 5 TO's this year (14)

In the triple-double games the Rockets are: 12-2 (.857%) all others 23-13 (.639%)
In the UNDER 5 TO's games the Rockets are: 11-3 (.786%) all others 24-12 (.667%)

There have only been 3 games where Harden had a triple-double and UNDER 5 TOs in the same game: 3-0 record.

    Conclusion:

Harden should go for triple-doubles and less than 5 turnovers every game.

Then we'll win a zillion games.

Maybe Dan Tony should have a serious talk with Harden about this. ;)

MVP candidate Kawhi led his team in turnovers tonight against the Pelicans and All-Star starter in Anthony Davis led his team in turnovers in Pelicans win over the Spurs. Soooooooooo......

Interesting stat, we would be on pace for 55 wins with him averaging more than 5 a game, no matter the rest of his stats.

He has the ball 90%+ when he's on the court, so most of our TO's gonna come from him.

Also, fumbles go against him, and those happen a lot.

He can average 10+ a game, so long as we are 65% winrate who cares?

65% means we'd win a series. So postseason that's just fine as well.

    What a fantastic observation!

I've also noticed that in games that Harden records a triple double while scoring over 50 points, the Rockets are undefeated. He should just do that every game from now on.

Someone really needs to have a serious talk with him and tell him this.

Player-only meeting with just Harden present should do the trick.

even if they utlized the team fully he'd still be handling the ball too much. wait till next year when we get more help

witj just raw stats his to's are fine. onaverage 25+ppg = 3tos, 8+apg=3tos. hardens a near 30/12 avg less than 6tos. as usual, he's doing too much.

So all he has to do is get a triple double, while making very few mistakes?

Why in the hell doesn't he do that all the time? I bet if he did that while missing very few shots we would be even better. Somebody better make sure the Beard gets this news ASAP. I bet he's completely oblivious to this simple formula.

How many players on this team can truly create their own shot? Harden, maybe Gordon and that's it. Everything else needs to be created for most of the other guys to score. Harden is tasked with creating those shots and as such he's facing a daunting task because he simply does not have the level of talent when you compare his "role" players to that of a Durant, LBJ, or even Leonard. Those guys all have solid guys around them who can either post up one on one and get their own shots, or they have multiple guys who are capable of dribble/drive/dish/score.

When you see it from this angle, you have to look at his turnovers as a tolerable sufferance. The thing that irritates me the most about Harden is when he gets lazy and forgets where defenders are and gets his pocket picked, directly, or when he jacks up a 3 right in the face of the defender. Those are two things he needs to fix, imo.

However, even if Harden does fix those things it still won't move the needle enough to win us a ship on its own. Some of these other roleplayers are going to need to start pulling their own weight rather than being dead weight. The Rockets are probably another 2 players away from having a comparable roster, talent wise, to that of GS or Cleveland.
