Well, it took Yao like 2 seasons to turn his butter fingers to iron claws (somewhat), so Asik just needs to practice more while the guards keep feeding him the balls.
His TOV% is half of his usage rate, it's not that bad considering the amount of times he touches the ball and how often he facilitates.
Interesting way to look at it, but if you're giving 1 point credit to assists, then you should also subtract 1 point for every assist to him, which is about 30% of his made field goals. It bumps it up a bit -- to 12.4 turnovers per 100 points. For Lin, it would come to 18.6 per 100 "points" (i.e. PTS + AST - ASSISTED_FG). <hr> Edit; Actually, I calculated again using season totals rather than per game stats. Currently, for Harden its 13.6 turnovers for every 100 "points", where by "points" I mean PTS + AST - ASSISTED_FG. Here it is for the whole team: Code: Player G MPG PTS AST TOV %Ast TOVper100pts Omer Asik 45 29.6 10.0 1.0 2.4 0.682 28.3 Jeremy Lin 45 33.1 12.0 6.0 3.0 0.411 18.5 Toney Douglas 42 19.2 8.3 2.0 1.3 0.629 15.0 Chandler Parsons 44 36.2 14.1 3.4 2.0 0.691 14.2 James Harden 44 38.5 25.9 5.5 4.0 0.296 13.6 Carlos Delfino 36 25.6 10.7 2.3 1.3 0.748 13.0 Marcus Morris 44 22.2 8.8 1.0 1.0 0.689 12.9 Greg Smith 39 14.3 5.6 0.4 0.4 0.709 10.0 Patrick Patterson 37 25.4 11.0 1.1 1.0 0.758 11.4 For the team as a whole, we're at 15.7 turnovers per 100 points scored. I imagine that point guards tend to have higher turnover rates by this measure since they're doing more "directing of the offense", so probably the fair thing to do would be to evaluate relative to position / role on the team.
Honestly. They should just spend a whole day with asik on his hands. Have a guy keep throwing hard difficult passes at him....or just call in AJ 80 to teach him how to catch lol.
We have the guy JLin who can take presussue off from if give him more trust from coach or from harden. But I guess some of you never think Lin is that guy.
Bingo! Everyone says - why have a midrange game - 3's and layup's are the way to go. Well, because when they take them away, it means you are either going to turn the ball over or put up a crappy shot. Sometimes pulling up and hitting a mid-range shot is the best decision. Both Lin & Harden need to do it more.
Thing is they both have that mid-range game. We've seen it from both of them in spurts. It's a coaching/system thing that they aren't utilizing it more.
Can't you see all those posts comparing Harden and Lin before mine? I was NOT the first one to mention Lin. And I didn't even say anything to compare Lin with Harden. All I said is when people compare them, they should apply the same standards and formula. What's wrong with that? I think you are over-reacting to something in your imagination.
midrange really is the mark of a more experience, cerebral player... Harden and Lin both have it within them. they just have to work on it. coaching that in wouldn't hurt, either.
What games have been lost due to Harden's turnovers specifically??? Or anyone else's for that matter. Rather win or lose their are many contributing factors. But hey, he's 23... He's one of the youngest players on the team and the team goes how he goes. If turnovers are his biggest issue at this stage in his career it's a none issue as far as I'm concern. Checked the record, check his stats, he's ballin...
