What you are telling me is that you are ok with a Harden quitting in Dec to take two weeks off if he was playing
with Irving and Love; knowing that he plays in the East......meaning they know they can finish 2nd or 3rd seed
and still get to the finals.

The question is before LeBron teamed up with star players such as Bosh/Wade/Irving/Love? LeBron didn’t
take days off back then because the pathway wasn’t so easy (mainly because he wasn’t teamed up with stars)

Now Harden can take days off because the team brought in Luc MaM, Tucker, CP3, T Black. Both Harden and Ariza
can concentrate more or defense and rest. Greater help means greater rest. Which translates to greater efficiency
    and success. Hopefully.

Does LeBron take days off playing with the Rockets roster last year while playing in the West last year?
Probably not. Would he be exhausted at seasons end playing the most games and mins over the last 3-4 yrs approx?

I'm saying... if a player is subpar defensively, they're already in a major hole.

If a player is wack defensively, they better be clutch AF.

    All that matters is wins.

What I’m saying is LeBron didn’t win until he teamed up with stars.
    CP3 equals or negates Kyrie.
Anderson is a watered down version of Love.
Now the Rockets have added defenders such as Luc MaM and PJ.

Reg season Mins the last 3 yrs.
    Harden 9,053 mins > LeBron 7,996 mins

Add playoffs during same span of time
    Harden 10,289 mins < LeBron 10,406 mins

So maybe if Harden rests more in the season.....he would be fresher like LeBron. See better defense.
Just my opinion that Harden is playing good or better defense this year. That’s without CP3 playing much.

My point is that stars win championships nowadays.
Harden got to WCF’s with D12 playing PnR before Dwight tweeked his knee in game 1
LeBron got thru to the NBA finals (beating weak eastern conference teams.....before joining stars in Miami)
Did not win the championship in first run with Cleveland. Quit or choked; according to some people’s logic.

    James.. 4th Q.. Game 6.. @Clippers :)

I hear you though. No one can knock Harden's attendance rate. He's really only missed games due to suspension since joining the team. So many inuries in HOU's history and currently.

Lebron's first trip to the Finals .....with Damon Jones, Larry Hughes, Daniel Gibson, Ilgauskas, Pavlovic

Larry Hughes mostly came off the bench. So Ilgauskas and Lebron were the only defensive studs on the starting team, Big Z being rather good than exceptional.

If you have a defensive minded go to guy you have one spot less to fill with a specialist.

Lebron as a rookie came into the league as a defensive physical specimen with ability to blocking shots.

If he was even more efficient on Offense and had Harden's way to get to the rim, he would be unstoppable.

I know Steph Curry gets a pass for playing defense on mostly spot up shooters. Surrounded by good defenders.
All star talent everywhere......then add KD.

Harden had Gordon who has never been confused as a defender.....nor has Ryan Anderson. Yes, their DRtg’s
last year didn’t do them justice. Well with Gordon anyway.

So I’m told LeBron has been winning trips to the finals with nothing lately. People don’t respect Love and Kyrie.
Kyrie is in Boston sitting at 9-3. LeBron is at 4-6.

This is where someone tells me LeBron doesn’t have Isiah Thomas. So he does need talent around him to win?
Crowder, Love, D-Wade, Derek Rose, Tristan, JR Smith, Frye. Sounds similar to Harden lineups in years past.
When Harden loses its because he doesn’t elevate his teammates around him. When LeBron loses its because
    his teammates suck.

They are different players but Lebron had the advantage that he could start as a rookie and post 21 pts 5-6 rbs and 4-5 assists.

Whereas it took Harden probably 2-3 years to get close to 6th man of the Year level.

Was Harden ready to put 20 pts in his first or second year? I am not sure. We won't know because he did not get that much PT early on.

Of course Lebron is 32. He is relatively old. He also has 3 titles, although you could say he had massive help which he did. No doubt about that.

Lebron will always get his in the media's coverage, but let's be honest Harden is in his prime while Lebron is declining. Still a very good player though.

    I disagree.

    A quit is a quit.

No one knows what happened except that locker room. We are just privy to the delonte news because that locker room broke. We don't even have confirmation about the Paul George and Hibbert scandal bcause that locker room kept a decent lid on it.

All you have been doing is being pessimistic towards harden and attacking his faults. While simultaneously, defending lebron doing the exact same thing. Because why? Defense...?

Lol... lebron is a once in a generation talent and athletic specimen. Simply comparing harden to lebron, in and of itself, is a compliment.

We keep holding harden to standards set aside for the goat players. I hope he becomes that but he isn't that kind of talent. He could become one of the best SG of all time but he should never be confused with being in competition for goat status.

And that's the standard your holding him to

A lackadaisical defender "quits" dozens of times every game :)

Harden is a great player, and he's doing better this season.

    Lol...

If that's the barrier, then Westbrook is constantly quitting. Lillard is the biggest quitter in the game. Lebron quits every game. Etc...

It's understandable to focus on "your" superstar because one will focus so much on just their team. Fans fail to recognize that every player takes plays off. Every player has lackadaisical effort at times throughout the game. Every player loses focus during a game.

Some players just have a great reputation and some have a bad reputation. Ultimately, that's what paints people's opinion most because most fans don't watch many games. Hardcore fans tend to just watch every game of their team. Very few extremely hardcore fans watch lots of games from lots of teams. Only a select few will watch every game.

Me and your have argued over Harden since his 2nd year here but I agree that game 6 of last year is far worse than the game 6 against the clippers.

Partly because we won that game against the clippers so it's easier to forget but also he was only like 25 years old and playing with an injured old roster, and to his credit he absolutely crushed it in game 7 to close the clippers out which a lot of the harden "Haters" fail to realize.

He's really gotta bring it in the playoffs this year to shed that rep.

We know harden is the best offensive weapon in the league. We know only Lebron can manipulate defenses like harden but he's gotta do this stuff in the playoffs, which he has at times but in the critical games he has not.

I think Hardens defense this year has been pretty darn good for the most part and he is only 28 so this is the time to really shine. He's at the right age and his mindset seems to be about winning and nothing else which is the right way to go about it.
