I lost any value for the MVP award after harden didn't either of the last 2 years. There's no proper definition or criteria. It's all based of warm and fuzzies and feels...so screw that.
And didn't PP said Cousin is the MVP for this year because Harden is popular choice... So f*ck the right choice aka popular choice and give it to someone else and screw Harden for another year on this inconsistent award..... this award is so meaningless because it lacks any real consistent criteria in it.
There is consistent criteria: Has James Harden won MVP? No He hasn't, therefore the criteria for MVP is simple: Don't be James Harden
Any historians out there who can outline the past 10-15 MVP award winners and the narrative that went along? The associated team ranking in their conference/league would be helpful too. 2017 - Westbrook, Thunder (47-35, #10 in league standings). Won because he average a triple double. Harden's team (55-27) was ranked 3rd. 2016 - Curry, Warriors 73-9, #1, Leonard was runner-up 2015 - Curry, Warriors 67-15, #1. Harden was runner-up (Rockets 56-26)
that's not the issue as long as Harden shows up in big games like yesterday's. He seriously fooked up by choking again against the Spurs, and probably lost hundreds of MVP votes.
in fact cp3 can legitimately enter mvp race himself... hes undefeated this season 14:0 honestly if he wasn't injured it look like we would be 28:0 now
If the MVP were given out today, voting for LeBron would be much, much more defendable than voting for Westbrook was last year, or Curry 2 years ago. The Cavaliers are on pace to win in the high 50's again, LeBron is averaging 28/9/8. The same amount of assists as Harden, and a better TS% without having anybody as good as Paul next to him. Harden got screwed out of his 2 MVP awards, but I think this one is a legit toss up right now.
That's my same thought as well. To be honest, if Bron keeps this play through the rest of the year, I do feel he legitimately deserves MVP. He's been playing unreal this year. The thing is that with CP3 back, Harden is still having great numbers, but now the spotlight is being shared. It's going to be a tough one this year for Harden to win. At the end, the media dislikes Houston and now they have a legitimate candidate to vote for.
Well in this case, I'd understand that sentiment. CP3 is playing out of his mind right now. And the team is 14-0 in games in which he's suited up. Not that Harden's 10-4 record sans Paul isn't impressive in its own right, but they're gonna split the votes at the rate they're going which paves the way for LeBron to get the award. I hate to say it, but the MVP race is probably LeBron's to lose right now. Actually, I don't hate to say it because I'm glad the Rockets are undefeated(so far) with CP3.
This year i feel like harden doesn’t care anymore. He doesn’t go out and consistently camp for those uncontested rebounds anymore and try to push for the triple double. He plays within himself and after getting screwed twice he’s probably just like f*ck it about it
It's weird. For the finals MVP, it's always the best player on the winning team. Lebron averaged a triple double in the last finals and they gave it to Durant. So why not do the same for the regular season? Best player on the best team in the regular season standings? Or at least someone from the top 4 team? Instead they gave it to someone whose team was 10th best only because he average 1 more rebound than the player from the 2nd best team. To make it worse...Westbrook is not even in the discussion this year.
Is that what you want? A rule from the NBA that the MVP can only be award to a player who plays for a top 4 team? So, hypothetically, if a player joins a 15 win team and turns them into a 50 win team, and that player is the best scorer and passer and defender in the game, he should not be considered for MVP?
