173 years ago today, Sam Houston and the Texas army whipped Santa Anna's Mexican forces in 18 minutes. Boom! Hundreds of Mexican soldiers died, but only nine Texas soldiers died. Here's to the fine nine that gave their lives to the great Republic!

It's incredible that a war of such geo-political consequence was fought by fewer than 2,500 men. The MS-150 is 4 times as big as this.
true, although realize the world population is more than 5 times what it was back then.. and the population of Texas is more than 1200 times what it was back then =P but regardless, it's still a battle/war and so few people..definitely still unusual
What I will always remember and took away from the sequence of events was that after the Alamo, Gen. Santa Anna declared a moment of "glorious victory" (per se), to which a underling soldier had written something to the effect of any more glorious victories and we will be finished!...(due to the high fatality rate involving the battles and grueling travel... A great moment in Texas history with as stated multi-races/cultures involved...!

Quit talking about secession, guys. Texas does not have the right to secede. Period. The only way Texas, or any other state for that matter, can separate from the USA is (a) Rebellion (b) if the other states want to kick us out of the union So.. really... just give it up.
Do your homework, cowoby. Boom! (Most experts say the notion that Texas can legally secede is mistaken, but the state does have the right to split into five states, offering the prospect of 10 U.S. Senators, math that would send cold shivers down any Democratic back.) http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1891829,00.html
I've done my homework. You should do you yours (or just click on the link I provided). What you quoted is different. That's not secession. That's one state of the union breaking into 5 states of the union (notice - they're still in the union). That's the same region being represented in a different way. Sure it'd cause a ruckus in the US government. But it ain't secession. So.... right back at ya. ...or "Boom!" as you so eloquently put it.
I said do your home work. Boom! Both the original (1836) and the current (1876) Texas Constitutions state that "All political power is inherent in the people ... they have at all times the inalienable right to alter their government in such manner as they might think proper.
ugh... take it do D&D and stop derailing this thread. And... the above quote from the Texas state constitution is vague and broad and mentions nothing about secession. And even if it did... If the State Constitution is in conflict with Federal Law (i.e. Supreme Court's ruling of Texas v. White)... the Federal Law wins out. give it up
Can't dispute the constitution, cowboy. Texas isn't seceding, but they can if the want to. FYI, you made it a debate. Not me. I just state facts. Not Wiki.
