Crap. I got a ticket to rockets/mavs opening night but if the ALCS goes 7 games than the 7th game is on oct 21st and I cant miss watching that

 

Count me as worried too. It's great to have owners who care about winning, and are willing to spend to help make that happen. But owners with poor judgement who let their opinions get in the way of professionals doing their jobs could absolutely tank this team long-term. Just look at Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins.

And I don't find the Buss family/Lakers example very reassuring.

 

A good idea is a good idea. Doesn't matter age or experience. If they say something smart, I hope Morey is willing to vet the idea. None of us want the kid to takeover the GM role, but there's nothing wrong with him contributing. Hell, Morey admits going on the trade thread every once in awhile. If he can parse through that thread, I'm sure he can listen to a 23 year old with passion for our Rockets. Surely the kid doesn't want to screw up this roster just to feel a little control. If he's a megalomaniac then it's Tilman's job to handle that.

 

Go to the rockets game. The mavs will be down by 40 in the third then leave and go watch the stickball game

To be honest, I'm impressed with how passive he claimed his role would be. He's the 23 year old son of a billionaire. It's not that hard to be an insufferable egomaniac with no grasp on reality whatsoever when that's the case. To the contrary, Patrick seemed very aware of the fact that he's simply a fan and that the Rockets have some of the best staff in the business and that he'll be very fortunate to learn from them. And he sounds eager to learn. Just that he's aware there is much for him to learn is a very positive sign to me. James Dolan, for example, has never believed there is a human being he can learn from.

 

A bad idea = hiring your kids to help run the Rickets

 

Oh ****... The thing i was afraid of after the presser. Its the Buss familiy all over again. Man, you can't make decision because you're the son of the owner. Its just wrong. You need to be qualified or have skills to make decisions. Thats why we got rid of monarchy...

Meh they are in their early 20's, they are big basketball fans and their father bought their favorite basketball team. I expected Tilman to have his kids involved in the overall process. I wouldn't assume anything, one way or another.

 

Sounds like there could be some issues that arise with this family. Hopefully not though.
