What I find shocking is that the Warriors passed on Leonard and Butler. That could have been part of their core....
they have a better FO, that's pretty damn clear. They just have better basketball minds in Jerry West and Myers.
I see quite a few picks from the Roxs that were in this last season's playoffs. The timing doesn't always work out, but there's not much of an argument to be made that the Rocket's talent evaluation isn't above average.
This is pretty dumb tbh, sure Rockets missed out on a lot of guys but that was one year, and they made up for it by drafting Chandler Parsons who is a max player in the NBA right now. Also you're focusing on just 3 years when GSW got their core to say Rox were bad at drafting....wow! So GSW picks weren't even top 5? Dude Houston's picks weren't even lottery! Well no **** if you're not even picking in the lottery the guys you'd pick should be inferior from the top picks the other team is making. Also the guys you mentioned are also guys GSW missed out on, in 2010 they got EKpe Udoh when they could've had Bledsoe or Whiteside what about that? In 2011 they got Klay Thompson but they could've traded down and acquired Kawhi and and a 1st rounder that would've become Jimmy Butler! In 2012 they wasted a pick on Barnes they could've traded down and drafted Fournier, Green, Ezili and another lottery pick next year. Instead of having just 3 guys be their core they could've have fielded an all star team right now with Butler, Fournier and defensive ace Kawhi along with Iggy, Klay and Steph and Green. What a missed opportunity! Obviously GSW are bad drafters, and saying this thread is just as bad is an understatement
When posters in the GARM try to "analyze" drafts it's always a good time to add users to my ignore list. Ignorance everywhere.
This is what everyone wants except the owner. The year he was ok with tanking was when the Harden trade happened. The reality is tanking may or may not produce results, everyone just looks at OKC or GSW but don't consider every year somebody gets the top pick, how come these power teams don't change? The answer is sometimes even if you own the draft the guy you get is inferior to Durant or Lebron or Curry or whoever, most of these guys are generational talents and by "generation" it means even if you wait 10 years you still won't find anyone as good as they are. Look at Sacramento, Toronto, Grizzlies etc. these guys have undergone full tanking cycles already and have nothing to show for it.

It is more about the supporting staff who did the scouting. GM came and go, the supporting staff remain most of the time.
Except they did. Patterson was a starter. Morris was a starter. Lamb was traded for Harden, a starter. And the other year (when you say we didn't even have a draft pick) yielded Chase Budinger, another starter. You can't cherry pick one side of the argument and then ignore advantages on the other side. Those 3 picks, plus the assets and cap space they were traded for, netted us Harden, KJ McDaniels, and to a lesser extent, Howard. If we're cherry picking, though, the only worthwhile first round draft pick the Warriors had below #12 (the highest pick the Rockets had in those years) was Festus Ezeli, a non-starter who barely played a season and a half with the Warriors. The Rockets, during that same span, have picked up Chase Budinger (a starter), Chandler Parsons (a max player), and Clint Capela (a starter this year), all at #25 or below. Not #11 and higher, #25 and below. Yet you neglect to mention any of these players because it doesn't fit your argument.
