It's a sad irony if you look back at the origin story of the Buffalo Braves/SD-LA Clippers, those '70 expansion Braves had a blue-collar fan base and did pretty well in the mid-late 70s with a team that fit the profile of the area. No arena money back then, and the Sabres/Canisius U. athletics effectively muscled them out of town.
Why do you say so about Vince? I remember him pouting abit in Toronto with lack of teammates but I wouldn't call it being a sissy. Some injuries time off that was questioned by the team. Sam Mitchell was a terrible coach though. I remember him going against Bruce Bowen alot and getting his ankles turned.
Yeah but so did a lot of other players right now. Also is that what sissy is? Doesn't seem very accurate.
VC had a longtime habit of pretending to get hurt on plays where he messed up. It wasn't just during his time in Toronto. He developed a reputation for it. One time I remember in particular, he was laying on the ground grimacing after a play (where nothing really happened to him) and the announcer (a former player) said "No Vince, get up" and everybody knew what he meant. VC earned the rep. VC also had a bad habit of settling during the playoffs. Those vicious drives to the rim in traffic you see on highlight reels rarely happened in the playoffs. One time, his teammate Charles Oakley called him out in public during (or right before) a 1st round playoff series, imploring him to attack and draw fouls instead of resorting to fade away jumpers as in previous post-seasons. He was a very soft player when it counted most. A classic example of a bee turning into a butterfly. Worse than his cousin, Tracy McGrady.
