Hate to promote the firing of another person, but whether or not it is scheme or the players, our QB play has regressed across the board this season. Knapp managed to coach up Yates and Schaub seemed a better player during his tenure with the team making the question if we should try to rehire him as QB coach?

Truthfully, the Raiders offense wasn't that bad while he was there given the lack of actual talent outside of a aged Palmer and their RB but I doubt Kubiak would let him try to do anything but a Denver style so I can't see him being given a offensive coordinator position.

Uh.....no, there is a rule in the NFL that not many people know. According to the NFL rule book, once you leave a team voluntarily to go to the Raiders you're no longer allowed back with the original team.

Josh McDaniels went back to the Patriots last year during the playoffs after the Rams said they weren't bringing him back after Black Monday last season.

There was talent outside DMC and Palmer. Moore, and Reece are ready to be featured more, while Criner and Streater were good prospects. One of the biggest problems was failing to make the zone block scheme fit McFadden

I agree with Paul, if "Knapper" is ready to battle fight and help Schaub prep for the Bengals, get his butt back here ASAP!

I'd lure him with the OC spot. Never liked Dennison's comment about "just work[ing] in Houston" and the 7 TDs in 60 possessions is a damning stat to me.

And he could figure out how to better use Casey like he used Reece this season.

The whole Casey phenomenon baffles me. I've never seen fans want so much from a player who has proven so little. You'd think he was the next Gronkowski the way fans want him to play TE. He doesn't get opportunities because he's not as dynamic as everyone likes to think. Its obvious.

He's had the experience in position versatility to do a lot more than what's expected out of a fullback. In the past we imagined an FB who could line up wide since we know he can catch, and we salivated at the thought of the defense having to adjust presnap to an offensive personnel that can show heavy run, then motion into a passing formation. Tweener yes, but the NFL's looking at hybridization of positions as much as the NBA is.

    Gronkowski, no. Hernandez, maybe.

Not a bad thought... unfortunately, they scored 6, 10 and 13 in those games.

I really think this needs to get done, whether Dennison leaves or not. Give him some special offensive consultant title, whatever. Or just fire Dorrell (who I am convinced is under-qualified to provide any benefit to a veteran like Matt) -- Schaub never looked this bad with Knapper or Shanahan.

I understand that QB coach should have little to do with it at this point, with Kubiak and Schaub having been together for so long. But Knapp was his QB coach from '04-'06 in Atlanta and here in 2010, and also made TJ Yates look respectable last year. Schaub isn't going anywhere so we need to at least get him someone he's worked well with.

And for God's sake run more shotgun to give him time against pressure. Use the pass to setup the run -- quick hits to get Matt in a rhythm rather than building up pressure for big 3rd downs where he tightens up and makes poor decisions.

Peyton Manning gets a new position coach: Greg Knapp

Posted by Michael David Smith on January 18, 2013, 8:11 PM EST Less than three weeks after he was fired as offensive coordinator of the Raiders, Greg Knapp is back in the AFC West.

The Broncos have announced that Knapp is their new quarterbacks coach. Knapp fills the spot on the coaching staff that became vacant when Adam Gase was promoted to offensive coordinator after Mike McCoy left to become head coach of the Chargers.

“Greg is a proven, experienced coach with a very impressive background working with quarterbacks,” Broncos coach John Fox said in a statement. “He’s had success with Pro Bowlers and established players while also being instrumental in the development of younger quarterbacks. I’ve coached against him for a number of years and have a lot of respect for him. We are pleased to add someone of his caliber to our coaching staff.”

The 2012 season was Knapp’s second stint as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator, having previously had that job in 2007 and 2008. He’s also been offensive coordinator for the Seahawks (2009), Falcons (2004-06) and 49ers (2001-03), and he has had multiple stints as an NFL quarterbacks coach. Now he becomes the position coach for Peyton Manning.

NFL coaching is so damn incestuous with their hires and movements. Oh well, unless some college team makes a move we are pretty much stuck with who we got.
