As a younger fan who can really only look at stats and highlights from earlier years .... I’m really glad the writer put 08/09 , 14-15 , and 18-17 on there .

those are the 3 definitive best teams of my fanship so far (I’m 28)

I think he’s wrong about 14/15 being solely driven by Dwight and James . It might look that way in the playoff box scores but that team was a team in the true sense of things . Chemistry was amazing that year . If only DMO and bev were healthy for the playoffs . Also Dwight tore his MCL game 1 vs GS in the WCF . Never forget y’all .

08/9 can you even imagine if that squad was full health ? Tmac / Yao / artest / battier / brooks / scola / Lowry / Landry / Hayes / mutumbo/ von wafer :)

I know not all guys were in their prime ... but that collection of talent is insane .

also even tho I have a recency bias ... I think the greatest what if in rockets history (in terms of players we actually had) is if Ralph Sampson hadn’t gotten hurt ( and probably mismanaged)

that he and Hakeem were both as good as they were as young as they were is insane . The nba ****ed us over with those drugs suspensions and we shot ourselves in the leg with how Ralph was dealt with medically .

the 17-18 squad is the greatest Rockets team in franchise history, and 1 of the greatest teams of all time

that team wins a title in most years

just imagine us beating that GS team and absolutely destroying the Cavs in the finals...Harden wins MVP and FMVP in the same season while beating 1 of the most stacked teams in NBA history and obliterating Lebron...CP3, MDA, and Morey get their rings

Harden proves that his style of play can win a title, MDA proves that he can win a chip doing things his way, and Morey proves that his philosophy can win it all as well...all 3 validated and crushing their haters

could be 20 years later, and we may still never see another Rockets team that good

I’m grateful that I was able to witness that team, but thinking about that squad can be so painful...that was our chance

    Twin Towers, Big Moe & Calvin, Dream’s ‘95, CP3 w/ hamstrings.

If they don’t have TMac out, than 08/09 is the sleeper of tournament.

    Mad Max vs Harden

    this is exciting...

    I could see a ‘86 / ‘94 vs. ‘18 Finals! Cannot decide!

1995 has to be the correct choice.

Beating the 4 top ranked teams in the regular season.
    They just refused to lose.

Their bad regular season was predominantly due to injuries.

Bingo. I often write that everyones careers were changed by that hamstring. And you could feel it in the moment.

Everyone looks at Harden, Morey, Paul, Ariza and Dantoni differently now if we put away one more game while healthy. Their entire career legacies suddenly pivot. The team makes completely different moves in 18-19. The world remembers that there was a team that went toe to toe and beat the Durant Warriors. And that defensive lineup of Capela, Tucker, Ariza, Moute, Paul.... dayum.

    Total tragedy.
