Greatest All Time Rocket (according to my wife)

A couple of months ago, I asked my wife who she thought the greatest Rocket of all time was. I thought her answers were funny (as well as somewhat disappointing) and wanted to share.

It may help explain her answers to know that she was never in to sports before we met in 07. She's from Cali and the closest to Houston she had been is El Paso. From the beginning, she's done her best to listen (or pretend to listen?) to me to talk about the Rockets, even watching a game every now and then, but never fully embracing the team.

With that said, here's how she answered the question. Her first guess was Tracy McGrady. I promptly told her no, and added that she should never say that again because I'd fear for our safety if someone on Clutchfans heard her say that.

Next, she said, "Um, then what about that Scola guy? He was good right?". I said that's a much safer answer than McGrady, but still incorrect and far from the truth.

Her final guess, before deciding that this was a stupid game, was "That guy with a funny name... Abar or Aba-Jabar or something like that." I said, "You mean Kareem Abdul Jabbar?". She said yes.

This conversation (obviously) raised some red flags I should have seen long ago. However, I've been working hard since then and things have gotten better. She watched all of the playoff games this season and now claims that Francisco Garcia is the best Rocket of all time.

Still some work to do, I know. Up next on the to-do list is some Clutch City videos.

Not sure if I should be disgusted, or asking for pics.

You're lucky. If I ask my wife that question she says Apollo 8, you know the one that went to the moon. :)

Haha. That makes me feel a little better. But as a few have already pointed out, it would probably be worse if she said McGrady. :)

The conversation of the best Rocket of all time has to be between Hasheem Thabeet and Ryan Bowen.

Show her that game where Scott Padgett had a bunch of 4th quarter 3s and she'll know the real answer.

if she guessed mcgrady, then she probably needs to subscribe to nbatv and watch all the programming in the off season.

My wife knows what's up, she knows it's Hakeem.

Probably because of my "Rockets Shrine" in the upstairs game-room with pictures, newspaper clippings and several figures of him.
